I have a friend who is extremely shy in real life, he is so reserved that he won't even say more than a few words to a waiter when we dine out together.
Yet online, whether for gaming or work, he is incredibly outgoing, it is as if he were a completely different person, he offers comfort to strangers and even donates money to those he pities. But he is also capable of lashing out at people with harsh words.
This contrasts sharply with the person we see in real life; while he dislikes interacting with others offline, he can hold forth with great ease and confidence online.
Of course, this isn't limited to just this one friend; many people around me exhibit this same behavior. Is this a positive phenomenon?
