Amazing fact about Cuckoo's........!

So I've been around a few years.....reasonably educated.....seen a bit of the World......learnt a few things.....probably bit cuckoo myself sometimes (I'll say it before anyone else does) but some facts just defy explanation......

Take Cuckoo's for instance.........OK we all know what clever buggers they are.........The male has his evil way with the female, and then flits off to find another female...job done...(Nothing new there then...)

So Mrs Cuckoo then goes off and lays her egg in some unsuspecting other birds nest and avoids all the hard work of bringing up the kids.....

But until today I had no idea of just how incredibly clever the female is...

Not only does she lay her egg in another birds nest, but the clever sod takes a peep in the nest first to see what colour the eggs in there are, and thens lays an egg to match! Clever or what.....

Got blue eggs in there with black spots....OK....got one coming right up....and lays a matching egg.....

So I hear you thinking....OK...some Cuckoo's can only lay blue eggs with black spots, so they must only lay eggs in matching nests right?.......Wrong...!

If the nest has brown eggs with black smudges.....hey presto.....matching egg...cream cloured egg.....no problem.....

Isn't that amazing..........

It's that time of year again......SPRING here in the UK.........and these clever little cuckoo's are arriving again......!

It reminded me of this thread so I thought I'd give it a little bump...........even though I got flamed a little for it....

Chill guys.......sometimes you just got to get away from the PC for a while, and think about what an amazing world we inhabit..........

But the weird shit doesn't end there...

The little ones,when they hatch,they throw all the other chicks out of the nest!So they get all the food for themselves...Sinister little bastards!
