One of my co-workers who lives in Venezuela just informed us about this a few minutes ago.

It's crazy seeing the destruction in the video he shared

The timing is so weird for Vzla.

It's like a Haiti 2.0

A resource is up for grabs then boom huge earthquake to tear down infrstructure that's self-reliant and now... others will be allowed in to change everything, likely to their own benefits at some degree.

same time, i mena we've been hearing we're destroying nature......... Living in Colombia I can tell you Bill Gates is ahead of the curve on seeing alot that is going to come sooon. As these new politicians tear down the Amazon, this side of the world will see some ugly pandemics/endemics/whatever as the 'protection' nature for itself, will be unleashed.

Gates is questioned a lot about owning certian things but I believe he just sees the inevitable in some cases, after I've lived places he has scientific labs/studies in.

The videos I have seen from there look just horrible, like a war zone. Having experienced a few strong earthquakes myself, I can imagine how scary it must have been for them

US media seems to always slant numbers of Venezuela

ie... the bombing when they got maduro.. hundreds were killed and/or seriously injjusred.

A friend on the ground there now in Caracas, tells me at least 700 people are reported dead. He is Venezuelan.

People are traumatized and dont want to sleeep indoors now in some areas.

Basic needs items are beinig donated as peope lost it all pretty much.

crazy situation for many.

ANother friend tells me local news esimates 10,000 have died.

@GNews you are probably right about the "aid" side of things. It is always about resources and leverage in the end, especially with Vzla. Look at how disaster capitalism worked in other places... USAID and IMF will be there with loans that have major strings attached. But politics aside, the infrastructure there was already struggling so even a moderate quake would absolutely level some of those barrios. Hope the locals actually get some food and water without getting caught in the middle of some geopolitical chess game.

It was just the outside resources being cut off.

Venezuela was the richest country in Latin America until the embargo act.

And even when they learned to survive around that.. look what was done to suffocate what they had in the last 1-2 years.

It's clear what the message and reason was. Monroe doctrine.
