I feel guilty about it like a snitch now.

I usually am 50/50 about reporting since I would feel like a snitch for doing it but did it this time and now feel guilty like snitch.

I hate when people are snitches in real life and this just feels icky.

A report isn't a ban button, it's just a note for mods to take a look.

If you really feel guilty about reporting a bot, I guess you've never been here when the entire front page is taken over by 50 copies of the "let me remotely control your PC and use your ID" threads.

Not if it was a bot but it is the concern the other person was genuine and just not good at english. :) Like a miscarriage of justice.

Lol! My post flagged as 'suspected AI'

99% of AI usage on here (and everywhere else) is lazy post count inflation. The 1% is a language aid. Always report it when you see it.

Well you're helping the community by reporting so it shouldn't feel icky.

I remember before I left bhw last time, probably about 3-4 years ago, it was disheartening to see what I knew to be an AI bot garnering loads of likes with generic responses. I and other IMers I who chatted to at the time quickly figured out it is was a bot because we would test it by asking some silly question about aliens or some such and it would just carry on the conversation with whatever thread we gave it.

It seemed semi automated though as a couple of times when really pressed it seemed a human would 'kick in', when accused of being a bot I think, and take over, maybe some alert on their side that it required intervention. :)

Sad to see how easy it was to dupe other bhw members. :D

AI was just becoming trendy then, but before it really pushed into the mainstream like it is now, hearing about it every day, so I dread to think how much worse it will be now lol.
