GMB Approved but Photos Still Pending After 4 Days?

I recently created a new google business profile for a restaurant and the profile has already been approved and is publicly visible. During the setup process I also uploaded several photos but they are still showing as "Pending" It's been almost 4 days since the profile was approved. I'm not very experienced with GBP so I'm wondering if this is normal. how long does Google usually take to review business photos after the profile itself has been approved? has anyone else experienced the same thing?

The client needs this completed as soon as possible, so I'd really appreciate any advice or insight.

4 days is nothing, dont stress. mine usually clear around the 7-10 day mark but ive had some sit for almost 2 weeks before they went live. as long as the profile itself is approved and visible you're fine.

one thing that sometimes helps... make sure the photos arent too large or weird aspect ratios, google seems to choke on those a bit longer. and dont keep deleting and reuploading, that just resets the clock imo.

if the client is breathing down your neck just tell them photo review is on googles side and out of your hands, which is true. nothing you can do to speed it up really.

@Rankings Daily point about not reuploading is the real one. I see people panic and keep swapping images out and it just throws the whole batch back to the start. Leave it alone.

One thing nobody mentioned, if you uploaded a big batch all at once it tends to crawl slower than dropping a few in over a couple days. Verified accounts that have some age/history also seem to clear faster, brand new profile is gonna be on the cautious side for a bit. Nothing wrong with yours, just google being google.

For the client just set the expectation now... tell them 2 weeks worst case so you're covered. way better than promising fast and looking bad.

honestly the "keep client busy with other stuff" angle works better than just telling them to wait. while photos sit, knock out the posts, fill the products/services, q&a, pick proper categories... all that goes live way faster and gives them something visible to look at so they feel like things are moving. takes the heat off the photos completely.

only thing id add is double check none of your shots have text overlays or logos slapped on them, google flags those harder and they can sit longer or get rejected outright. plain clean photos clear easiest in my experience.

other than that yeah, leave it alone and let it cook.

that’s pretty normal on newer profiles Google manually reviews photos for new businesses more than aged ones.

Had a brand new restaurant profile do the same to me couple months back, photos just sat there while everything else was already live. The big batch thing @The WP Nerd mentioned is real, ever since i started dropping like 3-4 a day instead of dumping 20 at once they seem to move quicker, cant prove it but thats been my experience.

One thing nobody touched on, geotagging your images before upload doesnt speed up review but it does help once they go live so might aswell do it now while you wait. Other than that yeah just leave it, the more you poke at it the worse it gets.

Edits on new listings can sometimes get queued for manual review, give it a couple of days.

one thing that hasnt come up... if its really urgent you can have the photos added through the maps app from a seperate aged google account thats got some local guide level on it, not the business dashboard. contributed photos from a half decent maps account sometimes surface quicker than owner uploads that are stuck in the manual queue. not a fix exactly but ive used it to get atleast a couple images live while the owner batch sits pending.

other than that everyones right, leave the dashboard ones alone. and dont let gemini be your source of truth on timelines lol, it just guesses. real world its all over the place, ive seen 3 days and ive seen 16.

Fresh restaurant listings get babysat harder by Google, so 4 days wouldn't worry me yet. One thing I’d check is that the photos are actual real camera shots and not menu screenshots, Canva promo images, heavy filters, text all over them etc... those can sit forever or just vanish.

If they’re still pending after 14 days, then open a GBP support ticket and say owner-uploaded photos are stuck in review on an approved live profile. Sometimes they nudge it, sometimes they just send canned reply, but before that you’re mostly just restarting the timer by touching stuff.

Good it cleared. For future GBPs I usually tell clients 7-14 days upfront even if it often clears sooner, saves the back and forth. Restaurants seem extra random too, food/interior shots go through fine but anything looking like a menu flyer or promo graphic gets stuck way more often in my experience.

It can take up to 2 weeks if I am not wrong, for photos that take too lomg to upload i usually delete and reupload it and it helps. But that is just based on my personal experience

This is normal because picture can make you wait for a couple of weeks before being uploaded/updated properly.

Its normal. And don't delete and upload images again and again in a panic. Just leave it there as it is. It will eventually get approved.
