My client wants to boost DA from 31 to 38 to achieve a KPI.
I've told him this is total vanity metric and will not help with traffic or rankings at all but hes insistent on delivering to his boss.

How can we do this for him without blowing it up to 50+DA

Basically, safest ways to nudge it a few points?

Can this be done with a cheap PRlog press release or something?

The "safest" way is boring: write good content, promote it to relevant people, let them link if it's worth linking. But this takes 6-12 months minimum and assumes your content is actually good.

There are several DA increasing services in the marketplace here, but frankly if the client is ignoring your advice, especially in such a pointless area as DA, I'd probably walk away.

We are already engaged on a annual deal and cant walk away right now.

Thanks Albert!

A few solid niche edits or guest posts on relevant sites would probably move it more safely than spammy PR links.

Going from 31 to 38 is not a huge jump if the link profile is already clean.
I would avoid shortcuts if the goal is only a few points.

Cheers bro.
We are building out quality links everyday but the DA just hasnt popped yet.

Is the annual deal for specific deliverables, or is it an open-ended "do whatever the client's boss comes up with this week"?
Its quite specific for building quality backlinks

One thing that moved DA few points for client site was making sure links were on pages Moz crawler actually visits regularly. DA is from Moz own index not Google, so if linking pages arent in Moz index, score wont update even with good quality links.
Check the linking URL on Open Site Explorer first, if its not showing in Moz index the link wont help DA regardless how relevant it is. Less about building more links, more about making sure existing ones are actually within Moz crawl path.

Then you're delivering what was promised. If your contract doesn't specify that you'll chase third-party metrics, their request is out of scope.

if thats your goal boosting DR we should focus on acquiring high quality relevant backlinks from authoritative websites. strong linkbuilding is over all growth

Building links daily but DA not moving usually means the linking domains themselves have low or stagnant DA, DA is logarithmic so a link from a DA20 site barely registers no matter how many of them you stack, you need links from domains already sitting above where you want to land

Pull every linking domain youve added in the last 3 months and check their own DA, if most are sub-30 thats your answer, swap a chunk of that budget into fewer but higher DA placements instead of volume

Also moz updates its index on its own schedule, not real time, so a 4-6 week lag after a good link lands before DA reflects it is normal, dont panic before that window passes

you're right, DA is mostly a reporting metric, but clients still care about it. a press release might help a little, but i wouldn't count on it. a few solid, relevant links are usually the safer bet.
my opinion, chasing DA alone is a distraction, but if it's the KPI, i'd focus on quality links instead of trying to force the metric.

Quality over quantity is the safest approach

Real backlink beats metric manipulation.

client Edcuacation is often harder then link building.

Id skip cheap PRLog press releases they dont really do much these days If you just wanna nudge DA from 31 to 38 Id go for a few decent relevant backlinks and maybe reclaim any lost links No way to guarantee an exact DA increase but thats probably the safest way without going overboard
