Hybrid Method to Sell Offline Service... What do you think?

I sell a consumer financing program to small businesses that I now market via email. Business has been fine, but I'm considering sweetening the pot in order to get more businesses to sign up. I want to offer the financing program, as well as a way to generate leads for the program.

What I'm considering is setting up a small lead generation site that advertises the particular business and the financing program. It will also give the site visitor the opportunity to submit contact info for details on how to get get approved easily for the financing, so it will serve as a lead generator for the particular business too.

(So the small business gets both a financing program for their customers, as well as a way to generate new customers w/ the financing program online).

It would be local, so it may not be too difficult to get the site ranked on the first page of google. Based on some keyword and domain research, my home town is wide open in a few niches where the financing program works well.

So, I'm just thinking of setting up a wordpress site and getting it ranked. Then approach businesses w/ the financing program and the site...so they have a turnkey system in place when I visit them.

In terms of traffic, I'm not seeing much traffic for the specific keywords.

Could I buy some traffic, so that the stats look better? So when I approach a business, it appears that the site is pretty active?

I know this sounds underhanded. But the website is really just a "freebie" add on, and just a way to sweeten the pot for the financing program, which will be the real money maker for the business.

Any thoughts?

Thanks oxon. So buying some traffic to make the site appear fairly active wouldn't be out of the question?

Try offline method as well, eg direct mail. Buy postcards and write on each one of them text like this:

Thanks, I already generate pretty good traffic w/ emailing. I simply want to sweeten the deal and close more existing clients. In addition, I earn a flat fee + residual on the number of consumers financed and the amount financed....so any way I can get a new account and help the business owner finance more customers means more $$$ for me. So my strategy is beneficial in a two-fold manner.

I just want to be able to send some traffic so that the prospective business owner sees hits to the website I've created. Only problem is, I don't want to send TOO much traffic....for example, a dentist website in a small town won't get 5k - 10k hits per month....so I'll have to figure out a way to throttle the hits, so it's realistic.
