About 2 months ago I purchased a SaaS application and launched it with high expectations. The product is live and working well, the problem is I'm not getting any subscriptions or paying customers.

I've played with a bit of basic promotion but the results have been disappointing so far. I'm starting to think the real problem is my marketing strategy.

To those that have successfully marketed a SaaS product:

* What traffic sources were best for you?
* SEO, paid ads, cold outreach, affiliates, or something else?
How do you get your first paying customers?
* Any common mistakes to avoid?

I would love to hear from members who have experience growing a SaaS business. Any advice, case studies or suggestions would be appreciated.

Google ads should be your friend. If you consider running ads, run search ads. This is the only thing that will bring quality clients. Do your keyword research etc depending on your product and launch some ads

It sounds like your product is already very good so your problem is most likely distribution, not development. If I were you I would start with one or two channels instead of trying to do everything at the same time - cold outreach or niche communities tend to work faster than SEO in the early stage.

Most Saas founders struggle with marketing not the product. Focus on finding where your target users hangout talk to them directly and validate that your offer solves a real problem

I tried Google Ads and got visitors, but very few people actually subscribed. That's why I'm looking for places or strategies where I can reach users who genuinely need the service, not just generate traffic. Any suggestions on finding more targeted audiences?

Thanks for the suggestion. I agree that distribution is the bigger challenge right now. My plan is to concentrate on a couple of channels initially, especially niche communities and outreach, and see what sort of response I get.

What type of ads did you try on Google ads?

Honestly, stop wasting money on ads right now — go where your target users already hang out like Reddit, niche Facebook groups, and LinkedIn. Do cold outreach but keep it personal, a generic blast converts nobody. SEO is a long game so don't wait on that, your first customers will come from direct conversations not traffic. Most importantly, ask 20 real people why they haven't subscribed yet — that one answer will be worth more than any marketing campaign.

if you got clicks but no signups on google ads, your keywords were probably too broad or your landing page didn't build trust yet. instead of generic terms, try bidding on competitor names. make a simple comparison page like "competitor vs yourtool" and target people searching for alternatives. those users already want to buy something, they just need a reason to pick you. also, since you bought the saas, did the seller hand over any old user database or leads? even dead signups from a year ago are worth emailing to see why they left.

I'm just curious to know what the SaaS product is. Can you share it?

Many saas products fail because they market feature instead of outcomes lead with the user value gets

yess, that's what I'm working on right now. More focused on outcome based messaging vs merely features so users can see the value upfront clearly. Thanksss for the heads up.

Ive seen SEO work really well but it takes time For faster results try hanging out where your target users already are like Reddit LinkedIn or niche communities Talk to people and get feedback instead of just promoting Also make sure your are solving a real problem because even great marketing cant fix a product people dont need

SaaS has only two month to go. In case you are getting click but not any conversion, do not waste time loking for more traffic instead, interact with your visitor. A few interview will help you find out whats wrong with conversion.

yeah, that's a valid point. I also see that seo + community participation combination performs far better than just pushing content. I’m trying to refine the offer based on real feedback and spend more time where users already are.

Most often, the initial customers will be those who have problems that need to be solved. Instead of marketing, I would use only one segment and gain feedback directly from the customers, and then use those chanels that bring results
