Hey BHW,

Lot’s of people always looking for easy ways to earn money online. I’ve got a quick method that requires basically no skills but should know how to use ai platforms.

Let’s get started. As the title says, it’s a Itch (io) method.

Itch is a platform to share/sell digital games, assets like game sprites/avatars. You have two options. The most simple is the game assets, or you could also technically create web games.

This method focuses on selling game assets.

Quick breakdown is we are going to:
  1. Create game assets with AI
  2. Upload to Itch
  3. …profit?

Actual steps to do this:
  1. First go to Itch and create a seller account. It’s free to signup, and just connect your paypal for receiving funds.

  2. Go through the game assets marketplace. Get an idea of what popular game assets look like profile wise, details etc. This is to help you understand what sells.

  3. Pick a game asset sprite. This could be character pack, animal pack etc. Pick one that you think has demand (after looking at popular ones on market)

  4. Now go to Google and find a AI game asset generator. There are a few options such as: PixelLab, AutoSprite, Ludo, and others. Pick the one with the best free plan, think its PixelLab, this is so you don’t have to pay anything to do this.

  5. Explain to the AI in generator the pack you want to build.

  6. While it’s building the game asset, go to chatgpt or any other LLM platform and get it to write the description and generate the header image. Give it examples of popular descriptions from Itch, so it knows what to write.

  7. Once done, go to Itch and create a game asset listing. Add the game asset file, screenshots, header image, description, and set a pricing structure.

  8. Once done, sit back and wait, or promote, or do more.

I tested this out a couple months back, I just uploaded one paid and one free asset. I checked it the other day and there are actually some sales.

Hope this helps some people out that are starting their digital money making path :D

Thanks dude, your idea just added a new revenue model to my existing pipeline structure. I'm an animator/artist so as well as the things I already do, i can upload my gif characters as high quality svg sprite sheets to itch and have links to my other sites. Cheers G. Sometimes the obvious is already in front of us! :D

AWESOME! Glad i helped a little

I've not seen this method anywhere else so thanks for this.

Does itch.io give you a buyers contact info like an email address?

Because if so this could be a cheeky way to build a buyers list.

(100x more valuable than an email list.)

I doubt it though but you are the expert here not me.

Good question, took a look and YES the email address is included. They give you the buyers email and ip address.

That's gold right there make sure you save em.

Best thing about this is you know what they are interested because they literally just bought an asset.

Ultra hot traffic right there :).

I guess it could be problematically legally because they didn't opt in to YOUR emails but itch.io instead.

But this is bhw, right ;).

That's a bad idea. Itch has been dead for years! There's no one there except for indie developers making free games. I've been on there for about five years—sales and subscriptions are at zero. (Meanwhile, on other platforms, the subscriber count is growing.)

I somewhat agree with your comment.

Though OP indeed shared a very great idea, and even proved it did sells.

I agree with it won't be a very profitable model, because Itch users just like build free games and I can't even believe there are people buying game assets on it until OP shared this.

This method opened my eye, this is more important than a method itself.

Sure, for a real 3D/2D creator, this method is a solid idea, and it existed from ancient ages ago, say, post high quality game assets and try to sell on Unity, Unreal, Artstation, SketchFab like store, to make it a serious business.

A lot of professional game developers do that to live!

Methods work best when you spin them into your own ideas. Itch may be past its glory days, but Unity asset store and Gumroad are still alive and well.

Not life changing money but it's something. Best idea would just be to use same process but on other marketplaces that have traffic.

I think its transferable process. Like you said there are things like Unity where you could probably do the exact same thing.

100%, always add your own spin to things.

This method would only work well when an AI tool can generate human quality game assets, and you put them on a popular asset store like I mentioned above.

These mainstream stores are all jammed with very high quality human made stuff, so won't have great margin for low quality AI flops. You may have some sales here and there, but won't many.

Terrible plan. Paid game asset packs arent even a good revenue model for actual 3d/2d artists, and youre doing it on a way smaller plattform at worse quality.

are you marketing any addons/assets on tebex ? do you have a portfolio, it sounds interesting do you have experience with modelling these assets using AI?

this is one of those models that looks small individually but can become interesting through volume.

digital products have an attractive advantage because they're created once and can continue generating revenue long after the initial work is done.

the key challenge is usually standing out. marketplaces become much more competitive once people realize the barrier to entry is relatively low.

No not advertising anything, just uploaded to their marketplace and left it there. I don't no anything about modeling or graphic design, the ai just created the assets.

Yea definitely can be hard standing out. but this way you can spend more time researching to stand out and less having to do all the actual design work.

I am confused. Is it really work? Can you share some think that worked?
