Hey!

On 28 May Reddit had a huge spike of shadowban accounts + suspended ones.

But also our entire system of scrapping stopped to work and now any response to a Reddit returns 403 error with ANY proxy, from ANY device.

Do you see similar thing? How can we solve that?

yes, been seeing the same thing since yesterday. Looks like Reddit tightened bot protection again because a lot of scrapers suddenly started throwing 403s.

Good luck.

Before the end of this year, Reddit will get brutal on everything bot/not natural. I've been watching what the founders say.

They are hell bent on finding solutions and they will with AI. At least for the high majority.

Using a header containing a cookie with the logged-in account information can temporarily bypass the 403 data collection error.

what did he say or why do you think it will be worse?

AI isn't that good as we can think, like many companies already pushing back from it

It is super annoying because even your legit automation gets blocked. Might need to rethink scraping strategy or wait for Reddit’s anti-bot shakeout to calm down.

Yeah, this looks like Reddit tightening things again when they push shadowban waves, they often also harden endpoints at the same time, which can trigger widespread 403s even with good proxies.

A clean browser session working while your scraper fails would tell you the block is probably at the CDN/API behavior layer, not a simple subnet ban.

sudden wave of 403s could be related to API, rate-limit, or anti-abuse changes. have you checked whether anything changed in how your scraper authenticates or accesses Reddit endpoints?

Lots of people have reported similar issues recently. If 403 errors are occurring across different proxies and devices, it suggests a platform side change rather than a local setup problem. Reddit has been steadily increasing restrictions on scraping and automated access, so stronger detection system or API protections could be the cause. It may be worth reviewing whether the current approach complies with Reddit's latest access requirements, as simply changing proxies may no longer be enough.
bro here is not the place for AI slop spam
