I think you should focus on your competitor links first. If he does PR you do PR and if he does Niche edit you make the same in the same websites. Thats a winning approach.

Guest posting still works, but it's a grind. you're gonna spend a lot of time sifting through crap to find anything worthwhile. a lot of "guest post services" are just churning out low-quality content for a quick buck. honestly, i've had better luck focusing on niche edits, if you can find the right sites. it's all about the quality of the placement and the relevance. don't bother with anything unless it's gonna move the needle

recently i have found that no single link type works consistently on its own anymore. this is how i work recently, combine strong topical relevance, authority, and natural link patterns rather than relying on pure volume.

what's working right now is not just the method, its the placement + timing. A few well placed links on relevant, already ranked pages end to outperform bulk campaigns, especially when you build them gradually so it looks natural rather than forced.

Recently , We are seeing relevance is still outperforming pure authority in competitive niche. Guest post on real niche sites with organic traffic are working well, especially when combined with strong internal linking.Niche edits also still perform great if the existing page already has rankings and indexed history.

In competitive niches, basic guest posts on public networks arent cutting it anymore.
Niche edits nside aged, already ranking articles are giving the best results right now because they pass instant authority and traffic. If you want scalability, then digital PR or targeting resource pages works well, but it takes more budget.

From my experience high- quality guest posts on real traffic sites and contextual niche edits are still giving the best results in competitive niches.
Authority placements work great too when combined with strong content and proper anchor strategy.
Scaled spam links are fading fast compared to quality placements.

Guest posts still work best for me if the website has real traffic and relevant content I noticed a few strong links work better than many random backlinks Niche edits also help but only on aged pages with good rankings

The 'match and exceed' approach. Do what the big boys are doing, but do it better.
The best way to start this is using a tool like the Link Intersect feature of Ahrefs, and check what pages/domains are linking to the same sites in the top 10 for your keywords. Aim to replicate those links as closely as you can.

I agree with most people here. In competitive niches, it’s not really about one specific link type. Relevance, placement quality, and trust matter much more now. Guest posts on real traffic sites still work well. Same with niche edits on aged pages that already have rankings and authority. Also, the brand mentions help a lot.

One thing that was help me being more selective with outreach. Instead of trying to get as many links as possible then i focus on websites that are genuinely related to the niche and already have active readers. Fewer but more relevant placemnets have produced better long term results for me.

Guest post link building strategies still working for SEO for competitive niche but if you want early results you should try Reddit and Quora for link building. Nowadays these platforms has become much stricter but still some niche communities or subreddit allow the external links.
