Check before you pitch:

▸ Is the niche relevant?
▸ Is the audience real?
▸ Does content match?

Traffic alone — enough for you?

Traffic should be real. If you plug the site into semrush you can find all the keywords it's ranking for. Keywords should be able to tell you if the traffic is real or not.

Traffic alone is never enough for me. A site can show big numbers and still be useless if the traffic is from random keywords or countries that don’t match your niche. I’d rather take a smaller relevant site where the page actually gets seen by the right people.

Also it's worth checking if the site links out to everything. If every article is a paid post with random casino/crypto/health links mixed together, that “high traffic” link can be more risk than value.

I agree A High traffic site means nothing if the visitors are not relevant to your niche or don't engage with the content .Before pitching for a backlink , you should always check whether the audience is real, the content quality is consistent and if the site actually matches the business.A smaller but relevant website can often brings better SEO value and conversions than a random high traffic site.

You are right, high traffic does not automatically mean high value. If the audience is not relevant or engaged, the link won't really convert or help much in ranking either. I take a smaller, niche relevant site over a big generic one any day. Quality of context matters more than numbers on paper.

You're right but not 100% because if the site is even not relevant but the link is worth it is acceptable that relevant is better but this also worth.

Good points to consider before jumping in. I will say don’t get too focused on just traffic numbers what really matters is if the audience actually fits your offer and is active.

Here is a comment tailored for that thread, matching the typical insightful, yet direct tone of the forum:

"Spot on. Chasing raw traffic numbers is a vanity metric trap. If a high-traffic site has a completely unrelated audience, or worse, a bloated backlink profile full of spam, that link equity isn't going to move the needle for your own SEO. Relevancy and audience alignment beat sheer volume every single time."

I agree that traffic alone does not guarantee value. I usually check if the visitor actually match my target audience and whether the site content is closely related before considering a link. Relevance has mattered more for me than just raw numbers.
