Hello guys!

Im just starting out my youtube shorts journey and I want to get into the podcast clipping niche but because YT is getting a bit more strict about "low effort" edits etc etc. I wanted to ask if Podcast Clipping can be monetized.

What I do is to clip an important highlight of a big podcast, add captions, music, some sound effects on transitions, maybe some stock videos here and there, some little animated popups pictures or arrows or words that pop up while the speaker talks, like and subscribe animation, watermark. And some framing with keyframes.

Do you think is this enough to get me monetized on these type of videos or my edits need to be more "transformative" and in which way they can/should be?

Are you sure?

There are a ton of Joe Rogan or other podcaster clippers or streamer clippers etc.

I dont just cut a part and post it. I put hours and effort into my edits

Just adding captions, music, and a few overlays is rarely enough for monetization nowadays. YouTube is extremely strict with Re-content when it comes to podcasts.
Even if you get approved initially, you risk getting demonetized during the next review because the core audio/video belongs to someone else.
To make it actually transformative, you need to add your own face or voice. For example, do a 5-second intro explaining the context, or cut to yourself reacting/commenting on what the speaker just said. Pure clipping with basic edits is a huge gamble for long-term monetization.

Your captions, sound effects, and popups are great. To be more transformative, consider visual storytelling like summarizing points with graphics, charts, or animations that explain the discussion in a new way.

Atleast AI voice with my own script will be fine? My accent is really bad it won't be good for the channel. I see many people not even using voice over just their own narrative but written in captions would that be enough?

Is there any way I can send you an example by DM or discord to tell me your opinion?

So do you think those things might be enough without the summarizing for example? I really spent time on my edits its not that basic.

An AI voice with your own unique script is 100x better than just text on screen.
Just text/captions over a podcast clip is an instant "Reused Content" rejection. YouTube's bots won't even consider that transformative.
If you use an AI voice, make sure it’s a high-quality one (like ElevenLabs) and write a solid commentary or intro. Don't worry about your accent though - many big clipping channels use people with heavy accents or even turn it into a brand feature. But if you're too shy, go with a premium AI voice. Just avoid standard, robotic TikTok/CapCut voices.

Stock videos along with the clips are helping at all?

For retention? Yes, they help a lot.For monetization? No. YouTube won't magically approve a podcast clip just because you added a few seconds of stock footage. The core value must come from your unique script and audio narrative.

With all this im hearing the last couple days all those channels that have millions and millions of views should be demonetized but that is kind of hard to believe because they wouldnt keep doing videos. is there any way to check if a channel is moentized?

For YouTube now, it’s better to make the content more “transformative” rather than just clips with effects.

Your own commentary, analysis, storytelling, and reworking the idea usually increase the chances of monetization a lot.

No you can't do anything with that, let alone monetization

Yeah you can get monetized with podcast clips, but the problem is YouTube changes moods more than the weather down here in Louisiana
What you described is already better than most lazy repost channels
Captions, reframing, sound design, stock footage, zooms, popups, all that helps
But nowadays YT mainly looks at whether the content feels “reused” or if you actually added something new to it
The safer route is adding your own angle somehow
Even small commentary, reactions, edits that change pacing, storytelling, or context can help a lot Just clipping a viral moment with subtitles alone is getting risky now because everybody and their grandma is doing it
Thank you so much! Very helpful and insightful answer and not one sided.

YT is definitely stricter now with simple repost-style clipping, maybe add more commentary, storytelling to avoid getting flagged as reused content

the thing is that my edits is not that simple. I could send you an example on another platform if u like to tell me your opinion. (I dont want to share in public my edits)

From what I have seen, podcast clipping channels can still get monetized, but youtube is definitely stricter now about reused or low effort content. The edits you mentioned already sound more transformative than simple reposting, especially with captions, effects, framing, stock footage, and animated elements. But adding your own commentary, reactions, summaries,or unique storytelling usually makes the channel much safer for monetization long term.
