Faceless stuff still works but low effort spam channels are dead now. YT wants real engagement and longer watch time not recycled AI clips.

Biggest mistake is people chasing fast cash instead of building a niche people come back to.

Honestly, I get why people feel that way. YouTube got way stricter with reused/low effort content, especially faceless stuff. Random demonetization definitely happens more now. But I still see channels making good money - they just put more effort into editing, storytelling, branding, etc. The “easy faceless cashcow” era is pretty much dead though.

It does feel like a some people (those damn gurus, allegedly) are getting away with gaming the system. Not to say it's a total waste of time. My talent is still making a fair bit of income. I'd say it's particularly difficult to get started on it now, more than anything though. Can't say that speaks to much, given it's one person's experience. Though that's just one guy saying so.

It’s not random demonetization - it’s a quality filter. YouTube is nuking anything that smells like low-effort AI because they don't want a platform full of automated templates. If you’re just slapping ElevenLabs audio over Midjourney images with zero unique editing or transformative storytelling, you’re going to get hit with the Reused Content flag every time. The reason some guys are still banking while others get banned is because they actually put work into the script and complex post-production. Faceless isn't dead, but the one-click money printer era definitely is.

YouTube definitely feels much stricter now, especially around reused content, automation, AI voiceovers, and low-effort faceless formats. A lot of channels that relied on mass-produced content are struggling with demonetization or limited reach.

But channels with original commentary, personality, storytelling, education, or strong editing still seem to perform well long term. The platform is pushing harder toward authenticity and viewer retention rather than volume-based content farms.

I get the frustration, but I wouldn’t say YouTube is dead, it’s just much less forgiving now.


The old low-effort faceless model is definitely getting squeezed: AI voice, stock footage, recycled scripts, same thumbnails, same topics. Those channels are easy to demonetize because they don’t look like they add much original value, but faceless itself isn’t the issue. Channels with original research, strong editing, unique angles, real narration/commentary, and clean assets can still do well.

So yeah, random demonetizations happen, but the safer play now is building something that clearly has original value and doesn’t look like it came out of a mass-production template.

YT is very strict about faceless content and also strict about low-effort content. Recently, YouTube demonetised over a million channels. But I trust YouTube will solve this problem as soon as possible. If it keeps running like this, people will lose the inspiration to create content on YouTube.
