There's 90+ threads here so I have a sneaking suspicion that hardly anyone does.

It’s definitely not the Chinese Tumblr. Weibo is the exact equivalent of Twitter/X in China. Hundreds of millions of people use it daily for trending news, celebrity gossip, and public discussions.
Unless you are a major western brand (like Nike, Tesla, or luxury fashion) trying to build brand awareness in China with a massive budget and a localized agency, Weibo is completely useless for direct-response marketing or dropshipping from the outside.
Plus, the language barrier and strict content moderation mean you can't just spin up fake profiles and blast links like you can on western platforms. That’s why nobody talks about it here.

outside china barely anyone uses it seriously. inside china it’s huge tho, like twitter + tumblr mix. problem is language barrier + platform rules, not really worth it unless u targeting chinese market

Weibo is huge in China. However, it costs a lot to get your post noticed. What is prevailing there is celebrity updates and big social events. If you would like to do biz, might better consider some other platforms. Language barrier, however, is not a big issue with the aid of AI.

I live outside China, so using Weibo is not very convenient for me. However, I find it to be a very interesting platform.

Weibo is X for china, but almost nobody outside china even uses it. If you know some Chinese it can still be a great platform depending on your product
