I’m a music artist trying to grow on TikTok, currently sitting at around 1,000 organic monthly listeners.
I’m still early in building traction, and I’m trying to understand what actually drives growth for music artists in practice.
So far I’ve only posted on my own page (no repost pages or promotion yet), just trying to build things organically.
I also don’t really have strict budget constraints, so I’m open to both organic and paid approaches if they actually work.
1. Is it fair to think that my “target audience” is basically people whose For You page looks similar to mine? Essentially, is your “target audience” basically people with the same TikTok feed as you?
So I’m trying to figure out:
2. For early-stage music artists, what actually works better for growth:
3. Overall, what actually drives growth for music artists starting from zero on TikTok, especially with limited budget/resources?

Like if my feed is full of underground artists, content creators, niche sounds, and certain types of content… is that essentially the same group I should be trying to reach and train my algorithm on?So I’m trying to figure out:
is “similar feed = similar audience” actually a useful way to think about it?or is audience targeting more about shared interests/actions rather than what shows up on your FYP?2. For early-stage music artists, what actually works better for growth:
Code:
consistent posting on your own page and building your identity over time, getting/paying other pages to “shill” your music for exposure,
or creating your own niche-style content page separate from your main artist page?
3. Overall, what actually drives growth for music artists starting from zero on TikTok, especially with limited budget/resources?
