Hey guys, I have been thinking about this lately. Some people say hosting doesn’t matter much for SEO, while others say it affects speed, uptime and even trust signals.
I am currently using basic hosting and my site is doing okay, but not sure if upgrading or changing provider can actually improve rankings.
Has anyone tested different hosting setups and seen any real impact on rankings?

Well if your host has regular downtime or lags for Googlebot you'll experience indexing issues and quality-related scores will go down. You want as close to 100% uptime as possible, or good use of CDN like Cloudflare. Basic hosting is usually fine unless your CMS consumes too much cpu - for most simple mom'n'pop sites it's fine. A high traffic ecom setup is probably going to want it's own VPS or dedi.

It works just fine for a starter website. Downtime is low. I used to have their stellar business plan and put all starter websites on that. Never had any issues.

Hosting itself isn’t a ranking factor, but performance is. Faster load times, good uptime, and server location can help UX and crawling. Switching won’t magically boost rankings—but slow/bad hosting can definitely hold you back.

yes it affects rankings. You go with bluehost or godaddy or hostinger like crapy, oversold and overloaded server then your site will load slow affecting ranking in google search and chatgpt. The reason behind this is... those kind of shared/vps/cloud providers stuff 1000s of sites on single server and have limited resources to serve webpages fast to the bots. If bots can't load page quickly or get some error, they'll leave your site. That why many people complain here that our of 1000 blog posts, only 100 get indexed and why google can't index rest of 900 posts. Well, use a mid-size web host which offers optimized servers for high bot traffic, nvme disk, and a server-side caching.

Speed, uptime, especially loading speed matters a lot.

Server choice matter in my cases like where your adudience is primarily based. If you are not using CDN.

There is no change in rankings unless you have thousands of users on your site already who complain about lag.

Present day secnario is this most fast websites are ridddled with ads so if you have an average loading time then there is no change that is you or anyone else changing server is going to see. Only fixing major technicals faults like i mentioned about or fixing some cyberattack thing would bring back rankings or users if you have faced that in that case finding a good server helps that is secure.
