Why do some “low effort” TikTok accounts blow up and go viral easily while high-quality and invested accounts get ignored?

i've been noticing this more and more recently.

Some accounts post very basic content like AI-generated and dump content (my friend just go viral by creating rubbish in the ocean and got 100k likes), yet they pull crazy reach and followers.

Meanwhile, I spend hours editing, scripting, optimizing, and still flop.

So what’s actually going on here? Need your ideas so much to improve my own account

Then you not have a glue to feed the Tiktok algo with the right content to reach your target audience. Where do you know that their low content is written with AI? More specific; more specific, what is in your eyes low quality content? Many people claiming that their competitors rank so high in the serps but have low quality content. You can bet that the opposite is true and these competitors who rankinh high, have high quality content und topical authority.

Sometimes on TikTok, simple content performs better because it feels more natural and easier to watch. Also, timing, trends and early engagement can make a big difference. High quality content still matters, but consistency and testing different formats usually help more over time.

TikTok is an unpredictable platform; its trends vary, with viewers either interested in simple and practical things or mindless, entertaining videos that still get high engagement. Observe your competitors and learn from their strategies.
agree bro but it still so depend on luck so much, i'll try to go viral by study the market a lot

i think people / users got tired of overproduced / scripted / ad type content. so unless your content is high end but yet feels highly personal (like a streamer or a founder led business or brand or artist), it should feel low effort, accidental. gen z is anti try hard. the weirder, the more vulnerable, the better. i feel tiktok is the antithesis to ig, the revenge of the common "not pretty enough, not rich enough to be an influencer" demo.

It's all about retention. If the video is interesting and people are watching, it doesn't matter if it is low quality or high quality. Tiktok will push the video to bigger audiences.

but why some really lame videos still go viral, is this the problem of algorithm or the audience problem to interst in those lame vids
