Solo Travelling the World

Solo traveling back in my 20s, i dont think the translation apps were that good back then. How's getting around Thailand knowing only English?

Thailand was good but I only did a couple places mainly phuket/bkk. Will need to do the rest of it soon

idk why people underestimate solo traveling here. been to thai, china, italy, turkey, spain on my own and had crazy experiences. You learn more about yourself than any group trip could ever teach you.

I read some guy said "Thailand is the best place to find a wife" - i believe with all my heart that it was a joke lmao

I enjoyed Thailand but yeah I don't think I would look for a wife there. At least, not for a fewwww years. How was China dude and Turkey? What were you doing in Turkey, heritage or just visiting.

I want to visit Turkey as well one day - maybe once everything cools down over there.

When you solo travelled what did you do - how did you fill your days I'm not one for Museums or anything of that sort but I do like to learn. Did IM supplement the travels, did you intend it to?

Solo travelling is a wonderful thing, especially for us remote freelancers who can work from a laptop with an internet connection. However, please do remember that this is absolutely not the right time to travel around, due to the overall geopolitical situation. Please stay safe and instead, indulge in some new activities in your free time, such as outdoor activities like cycling, etc.

Well about 16hours ago but I just got back in to my accommodation. Scored a few nights at my mates place who lives here.

I’m not ‘new’ to Bangkok but I reckon I still have my Bangkok V-card. No not that type of bangkok V-card.

I mean - I haven’t really done anything besides people watch and shop. It’s fine - however, I do need to get out of my comfort zone a little which I struggle to do. I want friends, who travel.

I want to interact with other 22yo but not really keen on getting shit faced drunk just to achieve that. A drink or five is fine, preferably a spliff but it shouldn’t need to be anything!

I need to challenge myself tomorrow for Songkran (Thai New Year). My mates busy ish so I have a free morning and afternoon. There’s a few music festivals but mainly street water fights.

I’ve never stayed in a Hostel but I will try it - maybe not genuinely unless someone here can convince me otherwise. As in, I’ll probably leave my belongings at my mates and just sleep at the hostel. Is that weird?

Anyways. Bangkok day 1 I guess?

Yes! Who the heck knows who’s in the room with me could be Jeffery Dahmer or some guy named Pete.

Although, that’s probably half the fun of booking the rooms lol.

You'll have some memorable and weird experiences in a hostel. I've seen it all. People having loud sex in the middle of the night, drunk people peeing on their bed, perverts stealing undergarments and a lot more.. enjoy. Hostels are a great place to meet new people but you also only enjoy being in one when you're young.

Honestly, with a $10k budget in your 20s, I’d do a multi-stop Southeast Asia run start in Bali, then hop to Vietnam and Thailand , it’s cheap, social and perfect for easing into solo travel.

Hostels are a great place to meet new people

I stayed in one for a night, then booked another one because it was that enjoyable.

I don’t know what I was stressing over it was really good. It’s also why I procrastinate in IM lol.

Phuket next gonna jump from town to town around the southern part of phuket to hopefully end up as close to Koh Samui as possible before hitting some islands around there.

Should be great and a good time to get some beach time in. It should take about 9-10 days to do. I’ll need to be back in bangkok in exactly 14 days.

Yeah bro, solo travel is key for actually seeing the real world. I did solo travel from 20 to 26 basically most of the trips, Asia/EU. Vietnam was probably biggest peak for me, so i can recommend.
