Anyone found a consistent way to reduce TRC20 fees?

Been sending USDT (TRC20) quite a lot recently
and fees are getting annoying.

I understand it has something to do with energy
but not fully clear how to optimize it.

Is freezing TRX the only option
or are there other practical ways?

Would like to hear what actually works for you guys.

Have you tried using USDT BEP20? You will need some BNB to make a transaction but if don't have then the fee will be in USDT (0,1x or 0,2x) depending the amount involved.

The best thing you can do is leave the damn TRX network. For a long time, transactions on the Ethereum network are not been expensive at all.
For TRC20, even if you buy energy, these are additional actions for an ordinary transaction, and even so, it will still not be cheaper than ERC20.

freezing trx is the main way, it gives you energy so you dont really pay much after that. but you gotta lock your coins which not everyone likes another thing is you can rent energy, some ppl do that instead and it can be cheaper if you dont send all the time also sometimes just using exchange transfers (like bybit or bitget) helps avoid sending on chain too much

Ironically enough the chain itself became popular back when it launched for being cheap to use, now they’re making you stake TRX to get x amount of free transactions a day, and if you don’t you’ll be paying somewhere like $3 for every transfer.

I completely moved away from the whole chain, if you’re looking for much cheaper options (and as quick) look into BSC or anything ETH L2 related, like Arbitrum or Base.

Yeah I’ve looked into BEP20 a bit

The best thing you can do is leave the damn TRX network. For a long time, transactions on the Ethereum network are not been expensive at all.
For TRC20, even if you buy energy, these are additional actions for an ordinary transaction, and even so, it will still not be cheaper than ERC20.

Yeah I’ve noticed ETH fees have improved a lot recently


still not sure I want to fully move away from TRC20 yet

What i do is I just use an exchange that will take only 1$ per trx20 transaction and i don't use a wallet for that
So always leave a small amount for daily usage

That actually sounds way more practical than freezing a big amount of TRX

There’s also something called renting energy, which allows you to make cheaper transactions, it’s a hassle though. I tend to agree with the consensus here, it’s better to simply move to other chains.

Yeah I’ve noticed timing can make a difference sometimes
but not always predictable

Quick update:


I tested renting energy on a few TRC20 transactions today and it did come out cheaper than just paying the standard network fee each time


not a huge difference per transaction, but it adds up if you’re sending frequently


still need to compare it properly against freezing TRX long term, but so far it feels like a more flexible option without locking funds


I’ll keep testing different setups and share more concrete numbers once I have something consistent

Sadly as far as my knowledge goes freezing TRX is the only option.

I’ve went through both staking and renting energy to reduce fees on TRX since I was using that specific chain quite a lot personally, but honestly these days there’s so many cheaper and easier to use alternative chains that I didn’t see the upside of using TRX specifically anymore.
