Hey, quick question — does Instagram limit DMs if it thinks you’re spamming? I feel like after sending a bunch of similar messages, they either stop delivering or go to requests. Not sure if it’s just me or some kind of restriction.
Has anyone dealt with this? How many DMs is “safe” per day?

Totally! Instagram definitely has those sneaky limits, especially if you're sending a bunch of similar messages because it flags them as potential spam. it's a real thing they do to prevent bots and stuff

Yes, tiered. Fresh accounts hit soft throttle around 20-30 DMs/day to non-followers — messages still send but land in message requests, not inbox. Aged accounts (3+ months, real activity) can do 50-80 before delivery drops. Hard action block kicks in faster if the text is identical every message — rotate at least 5-6 copy variants and you push that ceiling higher.

The same applies to all platforms. It is purely logical. If you send more than 30 DMs at once, you will get flagged.

Yeah they absolutely do. Instagram has both soft and hard limits depending on account trust score.

Fresh accounts get throttled around 15-20 DMs/day to non-followers. Messages still send but go straight to requests folder where nobody checks. Aged accounts with real activity history can push 25-30 before delivery tanks.

The killer is identical text. Send the same message 10+ times and you're cooked even on good accounts. You need at least 4-5 message variants rotating, plus natural delays between sends.

Account age matters more than people think. A 6-month account with real followers/activity can send way more than a fresh account with 10K bought followers.

If you're trying to scale DM outreach, honestly better to run mother/child method where child accounts follow targets first, wait for followback, then send to inbox instead of requests. Way higher delivery rate

– New acc: ~20–50/day
– Warm acc: ~50–150/day (spread out)

Nah you're waay to high even with cooldown you'll likely never go above 75 without going in the hidden folder. Except if you talk about DMs on follow back (welcome dms)

In my opinion, yes, because if you send the same number of messages to many people, the system will consider it spam and prevent you from sending them again, as you mentioned.

Yeah they limit hard if messages look same or sent too fast. No fixed safe number just warm up and vary text or you hit request folder fast

Thank you all for your responses, it was really helpful to hear your insights.

In case the dms are coming from the same IP, and there are many of them; it might flag the account and the new messages might be put in spam. That being said; either rotate the IP; or send between 10-15 dms each day and that should be fine.

Are you sending DM to New Followers or you are sending Outreach DM to those who dont follow you?

Because only DM to New Followers go to Inbox, Rest all will go to requests only, thats how it generally works.
And what do you mean by stop delivering?
How many DMs are you sending in a day now? Do they contain a link?
