I have a website that was getting around 13k daily impressions and ranking well for a lot of keywords. It actually survived the spam update and even gained traffic, but then suddenly yesterday it got hit hard and completely disappeared from almost all keywords. Traffic and clicks went straigt to 0. I suspect it's because of the core update.

All pages are still indexed, there are no errors in GSC, and I haven’t made any changes or built new backlinks.

At this point I’m not sure if the site is done or if I should just wait until the core update finishes rolling out.

Anyone have the same problem with the recent updates ? What should I do ? Should I update all the content now ?

Google is definitely shaking things up right now, so just sit tight and don't touch anything until the rollout is fully complete. Maybe you can drop your static here so we know what's going on

that kind of drop usually happens during core updates it’s not always permanent. if pages are still indexed and no manual action it’s more like reevaluation than penalty.

Sudden drops during a core update are more common than people think, even if everything looked stable before. If your pages are still indexed, it’s usually an algorithm re-evaluation rather than a penalty. Don’t rewrite everything right now wait for the rollout to finish and let things settle. Once it’s done, update and strengthen content based on what competitors are ranking for.

It’s unlikely that traffic would drop to zero due to updates. From my many years of blogging experience, when affected by updates, website traffic usually only decreases partially compared to before there has never been a case where it drops completely to zero.

Yeah, core updates shake things up but they’re not a penalty for everyone. Focus on quality signals: user intent, depth, and real value. Do a content audit on your top pages, beef them up with data, examples, and your own perspective. Improve E-E-A-T with better author bios and credible sources, trim fluff, and avoid chasing backlinks for the sake of it. After the rollout, re-check rankings and update where you can. If you want, share a couple pages and I’ll point out where you can add genuine value.

I bet you not have:

social signals
deep topic cluster
internal linking structure
EEAT signals (in your ocntent too)
your niche is one of them who are conquered by by media news sites

Since HCU rolled out in 2022, I thought things will get better with the next updates but it's been the opposite.

Seen this a lot with core updates - if everything’s still indexed and no GSC errors, it’s usually a re-evaluation, not a penalty. Don’t rush to change everything, wait until the rollout finishes, then compare winners vs your pages

Google is a pile of shite...

I'm getting some slight gains as my content was so old and I've been updating and creating like crazy for 2 months....but the bastard that is Gemini is stealing my content for it's Ai snippets and not referencing my site, don't get me wrong it's referencing me a lot, some cases of showing twice, but for others it steals my opening sentence or two for it's own introduction with no recognition....

I'm moving away from Google and all it's BS and have started going all in for Ai search results.... probably works hand in hand but I'm not that bothered about G anymore.....

Community and Ai will be my focus for the foreseeable future

F#ck You goggle.....

I had a somewhat similar situation.

After moving my site to another platform, views dropped a lot. Not to zero, but enough to feel it immediately. Over the last year I’ve updated a lot, added a good amount of new content, and improved the site overall, but the old traffic levels still haven’t really come back.

What’s odd is that clicks, CTR, and average position are all noticeably better now, yet total views are still below where they used to be.

Hey man, same story here with a couple of sites. Survived spam update, then got smashed by the recent core update - traffic dropped to almost zero overnight. Pages still indexed, no GSC errors, no recent changes.
Most people in the same boat are just waiting it out for now. Google is still rolling out the core update, so it might recover in the next 1-2 weeks.
I wouldn’t rush to update all content right now.
Better to wait and see how it settles first.
Hang in there.

Building on the internal linking idea, I've found that a deep topic cluster with 5-7 tightly related pages can significantly improve a site's re-evaluation chances after a core update. For instance, one of my sites in a competitive niche saw a 32% increase in organic traffic after implementing a topic cluster with strong EEAT signals and social proof. The key is to create a natural, user-centric structure that showcases expertise and authority, rather than just chasing backlinks. By doing so, you can increase your site's visibility and resilience to future updates, as evidenced by the 25% increase in featured snippets I've seen on my own sites after adopting this approach.

Gemini is stealing my content
Yeah man, as soon as ppl are looking for info that's on your website, gemini will create a nice AI Overview and your site will be de-ranked cause G doesn't need it anymore.

Especially if you create original content for a completely new niche that no other site has, gemini will suck it all up as soon as ppl use those queries.

Since this month core update is still rolling out until mid april you should not make any changes. You should wait fot the rollout to finish as rankings are currently volatile O click can somtimes be temporary data glitch that may revert once the update stabilizes.

Yes , Just Wait For Rolling Out Of Core Update Than You Should Start Backlinks And Posting and remove errors in GSC.

I’ve seen this a lot. I’d recommend waiting until the rollout is fully done before making any big changes. Since there are no issues in GSC and technical also everything is still indexed, there’s a good chance of at least a partial bounce back. This looks more like a re-evaluation than a penalty, basically it's Google's way of saying others are doing better than you.
