Is YouTube still a strong traffic source in 2026?

For traffic for affiliation, no, it's not as easy as before and you need to be a well known influencer to make enough money with that. But to promote products and brands, yes if you do product placements with other Youtubers

Yes youtube is still one of the biggest traffic sources in 2026. specially with shorts bringing a lot of traffic. but now competition i high and you really need good content and consistency to get results.

YouTube is still arguably the most stable traffic source out there, but the meta has completely shifted. You have to aggressively use Shorts as your top-of-funnel discovery engine to hook massive impressions, then deliberately funnel that attention toward your long-form videos to actually convert them or capture leads.

For those active on the platform, are you still seeing consistent views and engagement?
Yeah, there’s still traffic and engagement but it’s not as consistent. YouTube cares more about keeping viewers interested than just clicks so some videos flop while others suddenly blow up. If your content clicks with people it grows fast, if not it just dies quickly.

If you are consistent in making videos daily, then yes, YouTube is still a strong traffic source

Yes it is a still strong even now, nothing really replaced it fully. Youtube still has billions of users, so traffic potential is huge. but it is more competitive now you need better content or shorts to get reach. I still see it working, just not easy traffic like before.

I'm also on YouTube and currently I see that the view count is still stable, however, viewers now prioritize short videos more.

I think youtube is still consistent, lots of people are switching to youtube tv now too. I think it still makes sense.

I have a friend who opens pokemon cards on youtube, his following isnt huge, but hes making money at least

YouTube is still a massive traffic engine, but you can't just throw up generic spam videos anymore. The algorithm is hyper-focused on search intent and actual user retention now, so the current meta is basically spamming shorts for top of funnel discovery to hook people in and then funnelling them to your long form stuff to build enough trust to get them off the platform.

Depends on the niche, anything lifestyle & food related goes pretty hard on YT.

As a content creator, the key is in not treating organic YouTube traffic as an advertising opportunity. We all as viewers, we click on organic YouTube content expecting value, education (or sometimes entertainment) and not a sales pitch. Correct ?
Keeping the above in mind while creating content for YouTube, is a primary factor in building momentum.
Users spend nearly twice as much time on YouTube compared to other similar social media platforms, so YouTube is still a goldmine if the content part is done properly.

Yes, YouTube is still a strong traffic source in 2026, but it is more competitive now. From what I have seen, consistency and good retention matter more than ever. It is not just about uploading videos, but keeping people watching. Shorts can help with quick reach, while long videos build more stable traffic over time.

Yes, and in my opinion, the strongest. It can generate a huge amount of traffic if configured correctly.

From what I’ve seen, YouTube engagement and views are still strong, but the way you get them has changed compared to a few years ago. The algorithm today rewards watch time and viewer retention much more than just upload frequency or thumbnails alone.

A few trends I’ve noticed working well recently:
  • Longer watch sessions: Videos that keep people watching for a large portion of their length tend to get more recommended. Short clips alone often don’t push as far unless they lead into longer content.
  • Engagement signals: Comments, likes, and shares within the first hour really help visibility. That’s why many creators focus on community interaction, not just content.
  • Live streams: If you use scheduled live streams, YouTube sometimes favors them in recommendations, especially when viewers watch consistently and interact early.
  • Niche specificity: Channels that clearly focus on one topic (e.g., crypto analysis, stock watchlists) usually get more consistent traction than accounts that post unrelated content.
Overall, views aren’t disappearing — they’re just more tied to retention and engagement quality than before.
