Is SEO finally more expensive than Google Ads?

Between premium content, high-quality backlinks, and tools, my "organic" costs are through the roof.

For a new project, are you guys still starting with SEO, or just jumping straight to paid traffic to see if the offer even converts?

SEO and organic has always been the long game.
It has always been about building brand credibility rather than being an opportunity to test your offer's conversion rates.

If you want instant clicks, ads are what you do.
If you want to rank a site for long term, you have to play the long game.

And honestly, optimising for seo Today is very unreliable. You never know when Google will yeet your site.
So just focus on building a good business and accumulating legitimate interest and followership on social media and site ranking will naturally follow.

Paid traffic first to validate the offer, then SEO once you know it converts. Why spend 6-12 months ranking a page that doesn't even sell?

That depends on the niche.

CAC in some industries is on a 12+ year curve and VC money can wait out for a margin.

In those cases SEO isn't more expensive, but in a lot of examples
it is more expensive initially but pays out without constant investment.

Google ads only for quick short term sales if you have high profit margins. It's not a feasible solution for your business longterm.

Depends in what niche you are in. In some cases there is no point in doing seo when you are competing against super big sites. But often SEO is still viable if you can find your angle that has low competition in the niche. And you can't really compare seo and ads. Seo is one of the biggest ROI moves you can make. But it has to be done correctly. It is totally realistic for you to invest, lets say 100k into SEO over a year and then have your business make 100k/month from organic traffic the next years. SEO takes time and has to be made correctly but it's not going anywhere.

But to answer your question- you should always validate the product market fit first. Basic 10min research will tell you if people are looking for the solution that you want to offer. Optimizing the offer behind it is not very hard. If you have organic traffic coming, you will convert if there are good commercial or transactional keywords for you.
