Quality Backlinks vs Volume — Where Do You Stand?

did an experiment last quarter comparing one high-relevance backlink against around 30% random guest posts. the single relevant link won by a mile. feels like the game has shifted hard toward relevance over volume. anyone still seeing results from mass outreach or is that dead?
It's been like that for a while now

Do not ever go for volume. I am sure you will find sellers giving 1000s of backlinks for $5 on fiverr but they are worthless.

It was always like this. You should never chase volume with backlinks creation.

It is not new. It has been enforced by changes google made to combat AI spam.

I bet on quality. Tens of thousands of websites are now generated every day by AI and buy volume looks like easier without any trust from search system

The quality and relevancy are a must. Many of us are focused on AEO & GEO to optimize our sites.

Volume does not matter. Are you looking for long-term sales? Quality is very important.

yeah that aligns with what most ppl are seeing now. one strong, relevant link often beats a bunch of random guest posts because the context actually matches and the signal is clearer. mass outreach isn’t dead, but the old “blast volume” approach is way weaker. it only works if the sites still have some relevance or real authority.
what’s working better now is fewer, higher quality placements plus some diversified backlinks. volume alone doesn’t move like it used to.

Quality backlinks work better than volume now. One strong, relevant link can beat many weak links. Mass outreach still works a little, but relevance and niche authority are more important today.

I personally prefer quality over quantity a few backlinks can do more than hundreds of weak ones.

The days of blasting generic links are pretty much over, google just ignores those random guest posts now, so you’re basically paying for nothing, I’d take one link from a site in my actual niche over 50 unrelated ones any day.

In most cases, especially now, it’s not even a fair fight. One strong, niche-relevant backlink from a page that actually ranks and gets traffic will outperform dozens of generic placements. The algorithm is clearly leaning toward context, topical alignment, and real authority rather than sheer link count.

Also, the competition plays a huge role here. In low to mid competition niches, a handful of highly relevant links can move rankings surprisingly fast. But in more competitive spaces, it’s not about adding volume. It’s about stacking multiple high-quality, relevant links from different trusted sources within the same niche. That’s where real authority gets built.

Yeah many SEO peoples are seeing the same shift one highly relevant backlink can outperform dozens of random guest posts for rankings on Google.

I have seen the same trend that relevance beats volume almost every time now. One strong, niche link with real traffic and context can outperform dozens of generic posts. Mass outreach still works slightly for indexing or diversity, but it is no longer a primary ranking driver.

Yeah, I’ve noticed the same super relevant links outperform bulk guest posts by far now. Volume still works a bit, but the impact feels way weaker lately. Quality seems the safer play.

When it comes to backlinks in white-hat SEO, quality always beats volume. One relevant backlink from a trusted site in your niche carries far more value than multiple random links because it signals authority and context to Google. Mass outreach can still work, but only if the backlinks are niche-related and placed naturally otherwise they don’t add much value. The focus now should be on getting contextual, high-quality backlinks rather than chasing large numbers
