back in december I posted that my website would get 100 visitors a day and I was upset because traffic dropped to 14 a day. I thought I would wait it out because maybe google is doing their usual fuckery in december and traffic will recover in january.

now not only traffic did not recover, it's gotten worse. today guess how many visitors I had? 4. motherfucking 4.

my method has always been to provide information > convert visitor to a paying customer. example:

how long does it take to get an amicable divorce in new york?

person lands on divorce lawyer's website addressing this question. they will say wow, this is such a great website. let me call this lawyer.

but now, any question you put into google, motherfucking ai the answer is right there.

I hate the idea of getting a real job but I don't have any other ideas. I can't survive like this. search engine traffic is dead.

other than paid ads, how else can I generate customers through a website?

Aim for a better website. A viral interactive customer focused hit. Instead of the bad site you have now. You need to create something unique in the minds of the traffic you want to attract. Visitors aren't a problem if you are different.

this is terrible advice. you are completely missing the point. website is useless if ai provides the answer.

Paid content that isn’t unique or special enough will struggle to survive, especially now that AI can answer almost everything without users needing to visit your blog.

Hard topic!
You can try to fight back by doing this:

Let´s take the example!
"How long does it take to get an amicable divorce in New York?"

Make a YouTube channel about your site. "Exact copy name"
Make a video about the topic, where is the same Title, what you have in the article or in the question.
I would think that in the future, AI will start showing more video content with this question. So it's worth being on time and starting to do so.
You will get a view count for the video, but this also needs to be converted. Put at the end of the video that if you want to know more about the topic, visit the page or something like that.

I think short videos converts better, because the display settings and those dont have to by long videos. 10 - 25 seconds.

actually that's a great idea, I will try.

This is a long battle, you may not see results until July.
If you could somehow use artificial intelligence to automatically make a good and strong prompt from an article, and you could connect that to some AI so that it would automatically make a video, that would make things easier.

If you do it manually, I recommend the Camtasia program.
Get free background music at https://pixabay.com/sound-effects/search/trance harmony/
And I recommend that an artificial intelligence voice speak the text from the video. https://luvvoice.com/
And if AI makes poor quality and you might want to improve the quality, try this: Topaz Video program

I don't know if it's worth posting the same video on Facebook and Instagram and maybe X. So you could make a branded social media page for your page, where you could put this video. It might be wise, so for each new video you would then define a good "description" text with ChatGPT. Where can people find a link to the article.

Search traffic is definitely harder now, but it’s not completely dead. Many sites are seeing drops because AI answers take some clicks away. A good move now is diversifying traffic; things like local SEO, email lists, social platforms, & partnerships can still bring customers without relying only on Google.

Search traffic has changed a lot because AI now answers many questions directly in Google. Still, websites can attract customers through other channels like social media, email lists, and online communities. Sharing helpful content, building an email audience, and engaging in forums can bring targeted visitors without relying only on search engines.

try to find forums related to dating / lawyers, and be active on them. With the right involvement and privileges you can get some quality traffic as forum traffic always converts well

Google basically turned informational queries into their own content farm. Someone searches a question and Google just answers it right there with AI. No click needed. Great for users, terrible if your whole model was “answer question - get traffic”. But that doesn’t mean search is dead, it just means pure informational sites are getting nuked. If I was in your spot I’d stop chasing “how long does X take” type keywords. Those are exactly the ones Google steals.
Go after stuff where people still need a human. Comparisons, local intent, services, case studies, real examples. Stuff AI summaries can’t fully replace.
Also diversify a bit. SEO only is rough now. Build an email list, push some traffic from Reddit, forums, socials. A lot of people who relied 100% on Google are learning this the hard way right now. Search isn’t dead, but the easy traffic era definitely is.

Then you DEFINITLY need a new website. I have a feeling yours is balls, and has no interesting interactive elements, that set it apart from AI. Yes people can get the answer from AI. But they can't get a unique experience. That is where you want to tap in. Not with some crappy basic wordpress blog though lol If your website can't provide the alternative then how can you say the website is good?

I understand, but search traffic isn’t dead. It’s just more competitive now.

Try diversifying with social media, email lists, partnerships, and referrals, so you’re not relying only on Google.

People want readymade answers, so they prefer AI answers for informational queries. They'll only visit sites if they need in-depth information or something AI can't fulfill like downloads. You can only find a way out of this dead end situation if you genuinely try to help people and think of problems that AI can't solve. One example is to create a micro-niche website around divorce preparation by providing details about paper work, things to prioritise, custody of children, future marriage prospects, wealth distribution, etc. and giveaway anything that helps like sample documents for free. The more you research, the better ideas you'll get. Just keep in mind that helping them is your primary objective and earning money is secondary.

Search traffic is not dead your model is you relied on generic informational queries that ai now answers instantly

Shift to high intent pages local SEO branded queries and direct acquisition channels like email partnerships and social because information only sites will keep declining without conversion focused strategy
