Wanted to share something I have been testing recently and also hear what others are experiencing.

After the Google updates I noticed that many parasite pages I was tracking started losing rankings or became very unstable. Earlier it was quite easy to rank pages on high authority domains even without strong brand signals but now the results do not seem as consistent.

At the same time, I shifted more focus toward publishing brand mentioned articles across different niche blogs and platforms. These are mostly contextual guest posts where the brand is naturally included in the content instead of using heavy keyword anchor links.

Interestingly, I am now seeing better ranking stability and in some cases my pages or brand references are getting visibility inside AI Overviews. Even when individual keywords move up and down the overall search presence feels stronger.

Some placements that are working well for me include niche guest posts tool roundups comparison articles forum discussions and expert quote mentions. I am also keeping brand consistency through user generated platforms and profile type pages.

The main difference I feel is that these signals look more natural and long term compared to parasite pages which were more about using borrowed authority.

So I am curious what others here are seeing.

Are parasite pages still working well for you after the recent Google updates?

Do you think SEO is slowly shifting more toward brand presence and entity signals rather than only backlinks?

Would be great to hear real test results or niche specific experiences.

as of early 2026, parasite SEO ise volving rather than dying, but its
effectiveness has decreased significantly for low-effort, mass-produced
content following Google’s 2025 and Feb/March 2026 core updates.

while the "site reputation abuse"policy has led to manual penalties
for many high-profile publishers,smaller, high-authority parasite
pages—particularly on platforms like Reddit, LinkedIn, and
specialized niche forums

I agree that parasite SEO is not completely dead but it definitely feels like the easy wins are disappearing.

Earlier it was possible to publish a simple article on a strong domain and see it rank quickly. Now I am noticing that pages without real engagement or brand signals tend to drop faster or never stabilize. Platforms like Reddit and niche forums still seem to work because they have real discussions and user interaction. That type of content probably sends stronger trust signals compared to static parasite pages.

That is also why I started shifting more toward brand mentions and contextual placements. The visibility inside AI Overviews was something I did not expect but it has been happening more often lately.

I am seeing something very similar lately.Parasite SEO still works in some niches, but after the recent updates the volatility is much bigger.Pages can rank fast then disappear just as quickly. Google seems much stricter now about low value pages sitting on authority domains without real trust or engagement signals behind them. On the other hand , brand mentions and contextual placements are giving much better long term results for me too. Especially when the brand keeps appearing naturally across niche blogs, forums, comparisons,Reddit discussions and profile pages.

Noticed something similar. Short term ranking tactics seem less predictable now while building a consistent brand across different websites has produced steadier results. Even if individual rankings fluctuate then having your brand mentioned in relevant places appear to create a stronger overall search presence over time.
