Hello guys,

Lately I’ve noticed something strange with exchanges like Binance and Bybit. Over just a few days, their fees have shot up like crazy. When I tried to buy around £1,299 of USDT, the fee was about 86.8 USDT instead of the usual 22, which feels unreal. I can’t use bank transfers, so Google Pay is basically my only option.

Do you know any safer or cheaper way to buy USDT without getting hit with these massive fees? It’s honestly getting ridiculous.

I’m not entirely sure where you’re getting those fees from, I’ve been buying on Binance for years and their withdrawal fee for USDT (depending on chain) is anywhere from 1 - 4 USDT.

Perhaps try a different exchange, I use both Coinbase and Kraken as well, both support USDT on multiple chains & have manageable fees.

I’m not talking about withdrawing money! Please read again.

Fees jump when using instant methods like Google Pay.

Banks or crypto-to-crypto trades usually cost less. Many people buy smaller amounts in batches to avoid huge single fees.

The surge in fees for Google Pay transactions on major exchanges is usually a result of high chargeback risks and increased gateway processing costs in 2026. When you use direct card integration or mobile wallets, the merchant fee is significantly higher compared to a standard bank transfer. To reduce these costs, you should look into P2P (Peer-to-Peer) marketplaces where you can find verified sellers who accept mobile payments with much lower spreads. Another reliable method is to use a digital banking app as an intermediary to convert your funds into a currency that has lower transaction fees before moving it to the exchange. Always verify the reputation of the P2P seller and ensure they have a high completion rate to avoid potential security issues during the trade.

I don't know which county are you from. But try P2P. Its free and I hope you will get good deals.

Unfortunately, you don't get a good deal when using wise in p2p.

You should use P2P because the fees are much cheaper. P2P transactions shouldn’t have such high fees for each trade.
