yeah I’ve tested them recently and they still pass value, but not like before. if the expired domain has clean, relevant backlinks and the old topic matches the new site, you can usually see faster movement than with a fresh domain because some authority signals remain. but google has gotten better at filtering abuse. if the backlink profile is messy or the niche doesn’t match the domain’s history, a lot of that link equity gets ignored. so expired domains still work, but only when the history and backlinks actually make sense.
