I don’t understand why I can’t get more followers
I started posting on x a few days ago and already have 10k likes and 1 million impressions. but I’m barely getting any followers.

This is very normal on Twitter, and it can sometimes last for months, but there will be a turning point. If you continue like this, your follower count will increase. But the quality should always remain the same, of course.

impressions don't mean anything unless you a) provide value; or b) have a strong cta. Same is happening on all other platforms - just because you say or show something funny doesn't mean you make it worth their time by following you.
pretty normal tbh. impressions and likes dont always convert to followers.
a lot of people just scroll, like the post and move on. they dont really check the profile. also depends if your posts are kinda “follow worthy” or just something people quickly interact with.
sometimes you get big reach but the audience is very random from the algo, so they like it but dont care enough to follow. happens to many accounts.

The algorithm is favouring you for a better reach, the followers will increase over time. You should continue doing the same without pushing for followers.

I've been on x for almost ten years.
I haven't yet gained such impressions.
I rarely posts that may be the reason but I remain active there most of the times. I'd love to learn here.

What is your niche? Nevertheless having so many likes on a new account is definitely impressive! The followers will come if you continue to post great content like you're already doing in my opinion!
