Cenchu Hosting Just Disapeared

I found this hosting provider through the marketplace here (cenchu.net)

I bought a cloud server with them the other year, I had all of my websites hosted on the cloud server and my email accounts

They didn't renew their domain name/or just redirected it to a random nonrenewed domain name

Just happened recently

I have lost all of my websites and webmail accounts

Not really asking anything, but good lord, wtf. Had a site with 500 hours of work into it, should have made a desktop backup, but guess what - was backing up into the cloud. Expect my hosting service to not just disappear. 0 way to log into my wordpress sites as they're just gone

Looks like their sales thread here isn’t active anymore either, still you might be able to dispute on BHW (not sure). This is unfortunately a good reminder that backups should always be stored outside the hosting provider. I wish you had a separate backup system. Losing 500 hours of work is brutal.

It's brutal. Something might have happened to them. How many clients did they have? But from now on, you'll no longer make the mistake of not having backups at different places.

They're back online now, seems their domain name really did expire(took a pic earlier, was the name cheap expired domain lander, but oddly like a redirect where it said cenchu domain expired but the url was different, which makes me wonder maybe they were hacked or something, because wasnt cenchu.net in the url bar, was like "cityofsomerandomcity.com" but on it was a namecheap expired domain page that said cenchu.net - and I use namecheap and if a domain expires doesn't redirect to a different url). Which is ridiculously bad f up for a hosting company. My website - I just checked - is still offline. I can log into my cenchu account though and my cpanel. All of my sites are showing

"Forbidden
You don't have permission to access this resource.Server unable to read htaccess file, denying access to be safe"

So, for now, I'm not sure if my site data is lost or not, but all my domains are showing up in cpanel. I will contact support, they may have something going on.

Right now I'm just relieved they're back online. Will see tomorrow. Though holy fook is that a f up for a webhosting company that sells cloud servers to not renew their main f'ing domain

I'm also hosting with them. I was "auto-billed" yesterday for my annual service, and noticed that it was a different name, so I went to their site and talked to their chat reps, who stated Cenchu was their "sister site" and they were working on the problem and should be back up in a few hours.

I noticed last night that their domain had expired and that the domain was also renewed last night about 8ish hours after it expired, so perhaps they have now renewed it and we're waiting for dns propagation?

The "sister site" that I contacted is: cenmax.in

Please keep me updated on anything you learn. I don't think we've lost our websites (yet). It's annoying that I cannot get emails while this is down too. It is making me wonder what I should do to make sure this doesn't happen in future / that I'm protected from this kind of outage.

Not yet back online for me, it's still redirecting to "cityofbaytown.org/?d=cenchu.net&a=2143526812&s=10c7aef2e6b522ae1069d1fcfc6ed198752f5da119b28453a0cf68ae588e31be" // placeholder perhaps for expired domains(?).
I'm using an incognito tab, but perhaps because I'm in Australia, it might take a bit more time for me to see any "changes" as the DNS updates across the globe.
I can't access my cpanel though, we might have different hosting plans, but I actually need "cenchu.net" to work to access my backend .
I'm also flabbergasted that a webhosting company could let their domain expire, but right now I'm just holding my breath waiting to see if it was them that renewed the domain and whether things will come back.
(Also a bit nervous that the domain was only renewed for 1 year... just saying, it doesn't fill one with confidence, but maybe it was a customer service agent or someone without full powers trying to rectify the problem outside of hours, so not holding it against them 'yet'.. but hopefully I see them renew it for at least 5-10 years after the site is back up.)

It's back up now (but I had to change my own preferred/alt DNS servers in my networking properties to actually see it.. on my normal connection, it has cached the locked-out versions, so I know some visitors still won't be able to see my site (or cenchu's).
I changed to 1.1.1.1 (Cloudflare) and 8.8.8.8 (Google)
I still feel like I've been kicked in the stomach.
