Hi everyone,
For those actively working with local clients, what strategies are currently moving the needle the most in Local SEO?
Are optimized Google Business Profiles still the main driver, or are citations and local backlinks making a bigger difference now? Also curious how much impact reviews are having compared to traditional on-page SEO.
Would appreciate hearing what’s actually working in real campaigns.
Thanks!

From my experience, a properly optimized Google Business Profile is still the main driver, right categories, complete services, regular updates, and fresh photos all help. Reviews are having more impact than citations, especially consistent new reviews and genuine replies. Solid city and service pages with good internal linking still matter, and a few relevant local backlinks beat mass directory submissions. That mix is working best right now.

1) Brand name 2)Review 4)website which align with GBP , 5) social media and niche and local backlinks

Optimized Google Business Profile with consistent NAP (Name, Address, Phone) and localized keywords in site content works best for Local SEO.

for local SEO in 2025-2026, the most effective strategy is a hyper-optimized, active
Google Business Profile (GBP) combined with high-velocity, keyword-rich reviews
and localized content. Key focus areas include maintaining consistent NAP

A well-optimized Google Business Profile ad regular reviews still make the biggest difference. Local backlinks and basic on-page SEO help too, but reviews and profile activity seem to move local rankings more.

GBP is still the main driver but the game shifted from static info to engagement signals in 2026. Proximity is harder to beat than ever but you can widen your radius with high review velocity and photo freshness. Citations are now just a baseline; Google cares more about whether your profile looks alive with weekly updates and fast responses to Q&A. Also make sure your local schema is perfect because AI overviews are now pulling data directly from structured code on your landing pages.

An optimized Google Business Profile still plays a big role in local rankings. Getting regular reviews, posting updates, and keeping all business details accurate helps a lot with visibility. Local backlinks and citations support the process, but strong profile activity and customer reviews often make the biggest impact.

GBP is still king, keep it fully optimized with regular posts and photos. Reviews are huge right now, more than most people realize. Citations matter less than they used to but still need to be clean and consistent.

Focusing on optimizing your Google Business Profile, actively collecting keyword-rich reviews, and building a consistent Local Entity profile is the core "key" to success today. In my personal opinion, this is the most effective approach.

Focus on your Google Business Profile and get real reviews. Stay active and keep your details consistent. That's what's working best right now.

Google Business Profile and reviews still move things fastest. Good on-page and a few local backlinks help, but reviews and activity make the biggest difference right now.

For local SEO now, main things still are Google Business Profile fully optimized with good photos, correct hours, services etc. Reviews matter a lot, more reviews + good replies really help more than citations now. Local backlinks from real local sites (news, blogs, partners) still move the needle. On‑page basics like city keywords, schema, fast site still needed. So focus first on GBP + reviews, then local links, then on‑page SEO.

From what I have seen, a well-optimized google business profile is still the main driver for local visibility. Reviews and consistent updates seem to matter a lot too, especially for trust and conversions. Local backlinks help, but they feel more like a supporting factor compared to GBP + reviews.

For GBP, reviews filled with keywords.

And for the website, Local backlinks.

With these 2 i have ranked multiple local SEO projects. But still you need to optimize your website and GBP before doing those things.

Optimized Google Business Profile still seems to make the biggest difference. Reviews and regular updates help a lot, along with solid on page local content. Local backlinks also help, but consistency and activity usually move things first.

Google Business Profile + good reviews work best, local backlinks help, on-page still needed.

when it comes to local SEO, GBP is still the foundation and you can’t really skip it. citations and local links also matter, but more as a supporting factor
reviews now have a big impact on both conversions and even visibility.
on the non-SEO side, people sometimes test native ad networks like MGID as an additional traffic source for local offers, but that’s more about leads and reach than actual rankings

Still GBP-first in 2026—optimize it hard, push steady real reviews + replies, then support with a few strong local backlinks and solid on-page; citations are just baseline now.
