Search for expired sites

Hi everyone,
I'm trying to create a small PBN and I'm looking for good sites that have expired or are about to expire.
The whole DA, backlink, Google index, spam, etc. thing is clear. What I'd like to ask is what tool do you use (other than ahrefs) to perform a massive, automated check of expired or expiring sites to automatically evaluate all these parameters?
I understand that each domain needs to be further evaluated, but I'd need an initial screening, otherwise I'd have to check thousands of domains one by one.

For large-scale screening, most people I’ve seen don’t rely on a single tool.

Usually it’s a combination:

• one tool for bulk metrics (basic authority / links)
• another for spam signals and indexing checks
• then manual review for the final shortlist

Automated checks are useful only for filtering, not decision-making. In PBN cases especially, I’ve found that history, topical relevance, and how the links were built matter more than clean metrics alone.

Bulk tools save time, but the real work still starts after the shortlist.

I always prefer manual check rather than fully depending on the tools. No tools give you perfect results. So whatever tool you use verify it with your own seo knowledge.

For bulk screening, most people use tools like DomCop, SpamZilla, or Domain Hunter Gatherer since they already pull large expired lists and show DA, backlinks, spam score, and other metrics in one dashboard. They’re not perfect, but they’re great for narrowing thousands of domains down to a small shortlist before you manually review the good ones.

i feel you, doing manual checks on thousands of domains is soul-crushing and pointless. you need something that pre-filters before you even touch a domain.

there’s no magic single tool that does EVERYTHING, but you can automate a lot of the screening with a combo:

1. use expired domain hunters that export big lists + metrics. tools like ExpiredDomains.net give massive dumps you can filter by age, backlinks, traffic history.
2. feed those lists into bulk checkers. tools like Majestic bulk checker or Bulk DA/DR scrapers can give you initial trust flow, citation flow, domain rating type metrics fast.
3. use index checkers in bulk (there are services/API tools that ping google to see if URLs are still indexed), saves you tons of time.
4. automate with scripts or platforms that let you run filters: SEOProfy, DomCop, or Scrapebox with plugins.

ahrefs is solid but expensive for bulk. the key is layering: first filter by age/backlinks/traffic, then bulk index check, then do smaller manual review.

don’t waste time manually clicking 3k domains. stack tools, automate pre-filters, then deep dive the shortlisted ones that actually matter.
