New Section 3 Rule: 3.15 Restriction of Contact Information

Good afternoon ☕
Do we understand correctly that you cannot leave a link to your own website in new posts on your topic? Clarification - what if the link to the site is not clickable, but simply written in text form?

Also to confirm do we also remove the website from the about section of the profile page. I see 5 fields for BST.

But do I also remove an existing website (which is an external link) not sure if these are same as social links.

Thank you
Yes, if you have any links or outside contact info in your profile, those need to be removed as well.

What about a link so users can DM me within the forum, like:

Contact: https://www.blackhatworld.com/direct-messages/add?to=HarmonyHokage

Would that be allowed?
Yes, linking to your DM is fine as it's an in house way for other users to contact you.

2. What is strictly forbidden in subsequent posts?

Including any of the following in replies after the opening post:
  • Phone numbers, Telegram, Teams, email, or any other contact details
  • Landing page links
  • Clickable URLs
  • Plain text URLs
  • Contact details or links embedded in images/graphics
  • Quoting your opening post in subsequent replies is also forbidden.

I've had my own dealings with people go astray when I've initiated off-site contact that's had to be resolved

my wrong doing like

If you can't do it on the forum it probably shouldn't be done...

Congratulations for the change! I am using TG and doing business over it, but I am 100% against scams and, unfortunately, the dispute resolution section is full of that, so yes: that's a huge improvement for our Community.

"While it's meant for sales thread, any BHW thread can be added ."
->
Short question: Can we rent these fields to other people, similar to how we rent the signature space? :anyway: =)
I was about to ask the same. It could be a good opportunity for non upgraded users

We had a discussion about it and at this time we don't have policy around not being able to sell it. We'll of course be watching to see what you guys decide to do with them and if we do need to make policy down the road, we will.

Great!!! Many thanks, BlackHat World!! Let's do some extra bucks :cool::cool:

So, now we can not share our email, telegram and WhatsApp contact in the thread only in DMs? Please give more clarification.

What about a bump for this thread?

:)

This its a very nice update Team.

3.15 No posting off forum contact information except in signatures, first post of a sales thread and via DM. This includes, but is not limited to messaging services, emails or websites.

If that’s the case, I believe this is actually a positive step.
For long-term sellers who invest in their subscriptions and reputation, this rule provides more protection.
Many new users join without upgrading or building credibility, and unfortunately some engage in scams. This damages overall buyer trust, and as a result, even established sellers face hesitation from clients.
I hope this change helps improve trust and reduces such issues. Let’s see how it works in the long run.

It’s refreshing to see a leadership team that actually values user voice. By implementing these measures, you're not just stopping scams and bot-like seeding; you're preserving the integrity of BHW. Great move :p

@Diamond Damien made a pro move when he hired @PetraAnn.

She has done a lot more than is visible to the community to make the community better, and this is just one of a thousand things.

The team has had discussions about this change, but the implementation and the way it was implemented were her move.

And you know what is cool, more is on the horizon.

"Added 5 sales thread fields where Jr. VIPs and Marketplace Sellers can put up to 5 of their sales thread links."

I saw this in point 3.15. And I'm still a little confused. I would be very grateful if you could clarify this for me and other sellers.

I understand and support the new changes. At first, I was honestly quite surprised by the warning in my private messages :)

The only thing is - for me personally, direct contacts like WhatsApp and Telegram are extremely convenient when communicating with clients. The interaction happens in real time, all questions are resolved very well, and discussions move faster for the client as well. I believe that for most clients, these channels are also very convenient.

I’d like to throw in an idea “for consideration” - perhaps it would make sense to create some kind of pool of verified sellers who would be allowed to share external contact details, or something along those lines?

You can still use them I think the rules states, the issue is they can't be placed without your details being requested by users in HAFs/MP threads, of to quote the rules that were said again

Thats pretty clear I think.

@PetraAnn is there a rule that says you have to have a deal closed and payment made while discussing on the BHW platform first, before moving to support offsite contact comms specifically?

I understand, but most of our clients simply click the contact link from the PROMO on the last page of the thread.

What I mean is that the entire system of interaction with clients will change significantly, and this affects not only sellers.

I understand that this is primarily about security, which is exactly why I made such a suggestion. Of course, it would need to be carefully thought through, and it doesn’t seem easy to implement at first glance.

The 5 sales threads on your "about" profile tab came with the change. It doesn't have to do directly with the new rule, we just added as a nice to have since we took the social media fields away.

I know at this point nobody really believes me when I say that the verified seller is part of MP2, but it's a planned part of Marketplace 2.0. Unfortunately, I can't say much more right now but hopefully we'll have something to announced in the first half of this year.

Yes, everyone can still use outside communication methods to do their business. This simply means we're restricting WHERE the information can be put. For those with sales threads, it means one has to link to the 1st post vs. adding the info in a subsequent post. Customers then can click through and find that information. Alternatively, if someone says they're interested sellers can contact them via DM with their TG, whatsapp or whatever. Just make sure to include a link to the sales thread, or the potential buyer's post, to show that it wasn't unsolicited.

And of course, all upgraded members can put it in their signatures. Then, as they go and participate in other parts of the forum, their sigs will be seen by everyone.

As far as your question, we don't have a rule like this. It's not out of the question, but like I said somewhere on one of the other pages, baby steps. ;-) It already took a year to get here.

as everyone said above, it's a very good step but i was just thinking that you should add terms for buyers also, that if they do trade off the forum, they are doing it on their behalf, BHW will have no part in it!...something like this. What do you think? (i might be wrong just my opinion here)

As a buyer can I send me tg to people by dm? I don’t want to violate anything
