Lately I’ve noticed that normal posts don’t seem to get much reach unless the page already has strong authority. I might be wrong, but it feels like everything is pushed toward Reels now.
Is anyone here still growing pages using mostly carousels or regular posts?
Also curious — does consistency still matter more than chasing trends?
And what about longer captions/content… are they still working for anyone?
Would like to hear real experiences from people actively testing things right now.

Reels get the most reach now, but carousels and posts still work with engaged audiences. Consistency matters more than trends, and longer captions can still perform well.

From what I’m seeing, Reels are best for discovery, but carousels still work for retention once a page has some engagement.
Consistency seems to matter more than format. Pages that post regularly still outperform ones chasing every trend.
Longer captions can work, but mostly with audiences that already care about the topic.

i feel the same way. for people like me, i want to hear something explained in a short time depending on what it is. for products, i want a visual explanation. carousels are still great but i find those are better for your specific target like the ones who are likely to buy or sign up.

No, Reels are a powerful growth tool on Instagram right now, but they’re not the only way to grow. Consistent posts, Stories, engagement with your audience, collaborations, and niche content still drive growth too. Reels just tend to reach new audiences faster.

I have seen other people mention that but i think its not the only way.
i mean it helps a lot for growth, dont get me wrong but this needs to be followed by good posts/stories etc

Not *exactly* Reels are still **a major discovery engine and often the fastest way to get reach and new followers** because platforms are pushing short-form video hard, but they’re not literally the *only* way to grow since carousels, Stories, and niche posts still matter for engagement and retention once people are on your page.

Reels definitely get easier reach right now, but carousels still work if the content is strong.

What I’m seeing:
– Reels = top-of-funnel reach
– Carousels = saves + deeper engagement
– Static posts = weakest unless page has authority

Consistency still beats chasing trends long term. Trends give spikes, consistency builds brand + trust.

Longer captions still work IF they tell a story or give real value. Random long text doesn’t. Hook matters more than length.

Best strategy now = mix formats + test weekly instead of relying on one type.

Right now, carousel posts are very effective at gathering reach. If you make them creatively, they can gather a huge amount of reach, which will be more targeted than reels.

IMO, not necessarily. Reels are defo one of the strongest ways to get discovered right now though, across quite a lot of platforms. It's just a format that sticks so no surprise it's been ubiquitous (even on some, let's say "adult entertainment" sites).
Anyway, the other stuff like carousels and regular posts still work though, especially for strengthening your accounts signals or followbase. But yeah, they don't get the same non-follow distribution that Reels do.

Yes Reels get pushed more, that’s true.

But carousels still work if they’re educational. Random posts = low reach.

Consistency still matters more than trends. Trends give spikes, consistency builds page.

Long captions work only if the hook is strong. If first 2 lines aren’t good, nobody reads.

Right now: strong hook + value + consistency wins.

Reels help you boost your carousel posts. If you mix both then you are more likely to go viral.

Consistency is more important than trends unless your sole goal is to farm views with memes.

Captions are not as important as your on-video text. A strong use of b-rolls and subtitles are far more effective than any message you put in your caption.

Reels, YouTube Shorts; and TikTok videos are getting good reach. This is why many agencies are posting content between 10-15 seconds since they are getting good exposure.

Regular posts barely move unless your page is kinda known already.

Reels definitely get the widest reach right now — the algorithm clearly favors short-form video. But that doesn’t mean carousels are dead.

Carousels still perform well if they’re educational, story-driven, or save-worthy. The difference is they usually grow slower but attract more engaged followers.

Definitely these days shorts are growing very fast even youtube is pushing shorts more then long videos. There is simple reason behind this, people don't took interest in long videos they can't wait to get the main message they want from the video so they try to find the short video from which they can get for what they are exploring and this thing also save their time. Shorts convey the main message without wasting time and talks about to the point, thats why shorts are growing very fast these days.

No. Reels isn't the only way to advance your career — but it's currently one of the fastest paths on social media.

To understand this better, we need to break it down into three things: algorithms – content strategy – long-term career.
