Do you negotiate a lot while buying SEO services ?

Hello @awesomewebsites,
I rarely negotiate on the price itself because with high quality seo, the cost is usually tied directly to tangible deliverables like content fees or placement costs. If a provider drops their price significantly, they often have to cut corners on the quality of those assets to maintain their margin. I prefer to negotiate the scope of work rather than the rate to ensure the quality remains consistent.
You mean additional work in same price ?

Yeah, I usually try to negotiate, especially for bigger packages most sellers expect some back-and-forth on price.

Price negotiation for SEO services is normal, but truly good, experienced providers usually won’t slash their fees just to win a deal instead, they’ll adjust the scope, deliverables, or timeline to fit your budget. If someone is too quick to lower their price, it can actually be a warning sign that the quality might not be there, so the better strategy is to negotiate value and results, not just the cost.

What is your take on price negotiations while buying SEO services ?Do you feel that good services are hard to negotiate ?
SEO service companies usually charge high fees because they have to pay staff salaries to deliver the work. If you can find a freelancer and negotiate the price, the cost is often more reasonable.

Price always depends on the agency and how they works.

Some agencies provides $20 links and some provide $200. They both provides different values to the domain you get linked.

If the services are good, I don't mind paying extra. But you need to beware of people who drop their price continuously to get the job; these people usually provide a bad service and they should be avoided.

This is true. Some good services are really hard to negotiate. But in most cases 10-15% discount is preferable though.
I will tell you a general thing. Some people say that those sellers which are too rigid with pricing will always get less sales. But there is a premium class of buyers who hardly negotiate. The quality of service is what they care about.

good SEO is usually harder to negotiate. if they get results and have demand, they don’t need to discount much.

instead of pushing price down, better to adjust scope or deliverables.

if someone drops price too easily, that’s sometimes a red flag.

Price negotiation in SEO is normal, but it should focus on value and scope—not just cost.
Quality SEO services are usually less flexible on price, but deliverables can often be adjusted to fit the budget.

Price negotiation is normal in SEO, and it doesn’t mean quality is low. Good services can still be affordable if the provider has a smart system, clear process, and lower overhead. What matters most is transparency and delivering real value for the price.
Fair pricing + consistent results always wins.

A little negotiation is normal, especially for larger projects. But if the price drops too easily, it can sometimes mean the quality will drop as well.

Oh yes. I negotiate literally all the time, especially in link building.

My best example: the original price for a guest post was $150. I managed to negotiate it down to $20 per post. In the end, I placed more than 100 articles with them and saved about $12,000.

So it’s always worth negotiating—especially in link building.

I’ve also managed to get discounts on other SEO services, but the results there usually aren’t as dramatic. In those cases, quality becomes more important, and sometimes it’s better to pay a bit more than to get a discount and end up with poor quality.

It depends on the sellers. If he has proven case studies then I rarely bargain. You can negotiate SEO prices, but quality matters more.
Top services may charge more but are worth it.
