I started my bankruptcy today.

Its been 2 years of lost battles and I decided the best thing for my family and myself would be to take this route. With a 100K in debt being sued by the 3 different cc companies and a wife home is medically disabled it was time.

1. Wife started to have spinal issues neck and back. Lost job 70k gone.
2. Whole dept was dissolved in merger. Lost job 60k gone.
3. House was short sold and dog died of cancer. I loved that dog.
4. Turned in one of the cars back to the dealer.
5. Stopped paying on cc, they would not take a lessor offer.
6. bankruptcy.
7. For the next 90 days, I can't make any monies until its discharged. After that I am free to get back into the game.
8. Rehired with exact same job, better manager.
9. Starting over feels good.
10. My kids are healthy, I am healthy, peace in my life again.

Lesson to all of you, life is too short to suffer the winds of issue that you did not cause.

HELL YEAH! Keep your head up, bro! That's the story I love to hear. Other than your wife's health issues and your dog dying, your entire story is definitely NOT one to be ashamed of and definitely NOT one of failure. It's success.

You made a business decision to file. That's what so many people don't get and it ticks me off. Businesses do it and it's a smart move. People do it and for some reason they're morally wrong in some people's eyes. Those people are idiots. You did the best thing in the world.

Like you said, you all have your health and you're excited about life again. That's what matters.

Actually, you might laugh but that's how I came up with my dj name because I actually filed for bankruptcy my only advice is to just have one person in the family declare. otherwise everyones credit is screwed, but at least at the end of the tunnel you'll be cash rich if you still have a job.

Most states in America are community property states. Even if my wife would have Bk'ed they would have still come after me. I hired one of the best BK Law firms and did my research. I know someone whom works for a collection agency and I asked his advice. It would not matter if my wife or I did it, they would come after the person whom didn't file. He gave me court cases to reflect that they always win when people are dumb enough to do that.

I didn't just decide to do this, its been 2 years and learning the ins and outs of bk in case I would end up here. The more screwed up thing is that I'm an excellent risk after I bk, I have no debt, none.

I think the saddest thing is I know someone whom off'ed themselves because of debt.

I'm 39, and I know a little bit more about life than some of you, believe me, if your going through hell, keep going it will end.

The debt collectors called and as they do every friday and I told them that I had started chapter 7. The thing about starting it is that its like driving off a cliff, once you file you can't un-file. I told them and said they said, well we can take 30%. Of the original debt, I told them, you should have offered this from the beginning. You are not going to get nothing.

Here is the thing about paying the debt for a lessor amount its about 5% better than bankruptcy. So why not and go over the cliff and own nothing at all. I think I slept the best I have in two years since this all started. I spoke to a friend of mine whom I didn't even know she Bk'ed and she did a year ago. She told no one.

The moment your bk is discharged you get credit card offered and can get a car loan, you don't have any other debt! Interesting spin on things. She also created a LLC overseas that has its own credit rating. Never again she said, I'll never have credit in my name again. If this happens again then the LLC will take the loss, not me directly.

One of the most beautiful things about america is bankruptcy... you don't pass debt to your kids.. you can't get credit for some time but still renting isn't that bad.. and the ability to try again is not known in many countries around the world...

We are all here to make money, some black, some white and making money isn't hard. You just have to apply yourself and if it does not work, try something else do no keep doing the same thing and hope it works. It is or isn't going to work, hope has nothing to do with making money. I'll be back on the wagon soon, between now and when the bk is discharged I can't make any more money than I'm currently making every deposit is watched and so is your spending. So I get to research and plan my next move. I was really considering writing an e-book on the whole event.
