importance of google pagespeed

Hi,

I try to optimize my site using https://pagespeed.web.dev/ and I get an performance of 53!

I have a pretty good hosting and everything has been optimized as much as possible, but to be fair a decent 2026 site having all the nice design and interactive elements is almost impossible to improve the performance.

I mean yeah if I just put a plain html and no javascript and css and images etc... sure... but there is a long way from 53 to 100.

How serieus should I take that from google pagespeed? If I use https://tools.pingdom.com/ I see much beter result.

Any input or tips?

Hi, what type of server do you use. if its windows like that your perfomence points is always low. and use webp photos. install AI ide and open folder to your website and analyze it for performance.

PageSpeed scores are just a guideline. A 53 isn’t bad if your site loads fast for users and Core Web Vitals are good. Focus on real speed improvements like lazy loading, compressing assets, and reducing render-blocking scripts rather than chasing 100.

I have my own dedicated server, its linux, nginx/apache its pretty fast server and use cloud flare too. Images are webp. most speed test sites gives a good rating, its just google pagespeed that its never get happy.

Honestly, a 53 isn't terrible if the actual site feels fast to a real user. I stopped chasing a perfect 100 score because it often forces you to strip away design elements that are actually useful for conversions. The most important thing to check is your Core Web Vitals field data in Search Console, as that is what actually impacts rankings. Pingdom is usually a much better indicator of the real load speed anyway.

My laravel websites usually have 97-100 scores, but no traffic yet.

If the 90 plus scores are because everything is deferred and hidden and the site isn't interactive really, then it will get higher bounce rates, you can trick page speed test but you can't trick real users.

The speed test as far discoverability goes I do not think it matters, if you're using wp or reactjs you'll likely never have a 90 score fully interactive domcontentloaded page.

25 or 50 , both equally suck, if you can, go without react and wp and go full out, webp images, lazy load, css in head section, at least for the home page. This should be enough for 90+ on mobile and desktop, I think my site is 89/94 or something.

Can't say it doesn't matter at all, of course it matters.

It’s really just a minor factor affecting your website; user experience is the main factor. Focus on content and SEO.

You should check page loading speed from other sites & manually too. If the page is not loading fast, then it's a problem. Slow loading sites discourage users to stay longer on pages. If you can pinpoint specific things like ttfb, CLS, lcp, ins, etc. being low or issues with the page that's causing lower score, anyone here might be able to help you. Otherwise it's just like a Google search about low pagespeed insights score.

If you are using WordPress + elementor . Just delete the unused css files . Actually you have to do many things and all are in wp rocket .

I think, If you can adjust and resolve Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS) of your website, the speed will be improved. On my case, I usually use Kadence Theme which have low Cumulative Layout Shift and speed is automatically good.
