My friend had a not really nice experience with crypto exchange, so like what should I pay attention to

What exactly happened to him? Hard to give advice without knowing the scam type.

Don't use crypto? You won't get scammed. Seems its only good for scams really. Or buying chronic! :D

It was about trust wallet, they wanted to check if their crypto was ok and they stole money instead...

Hmmm ok, there is soooo much of life i must be missing then cause I don't use crypto? I can't use it for any entertainment in my city or to buy food, or pay for my internet. Its of no use if i want to buy an ice cream or have a coffee or meal with family. I also can't pay for any of my development or software tools that I use.

So remind me, WHAT exactly am i missing out on? lol (or what would you be missing out on even more importanly?) lol

Always double-check the reputation of any exchange before using it, stick to verified platforms, and start small to test the process. Keeping your accounts secure and reading reviews from other users can save you from a lot of trouble.

But like where to check reviews, if it's on their website it's not really trustful...

Trustpilot, Reddit (search "[exchange name] scam"), Twitter/X. Also check if they're listed on CoinGecko or CoinMarketCap sketchy ones usually aren't there.

It's true that reviews on the exchange's own site aren't always trustworthy. It's best to look at independent forums, review sources you can trust, and comments from real users on social media. Before trusting a trade, be sure you see the same patterns in more than one place.

It is specially not made for buying icecream but something better. You don't see it's use because you don't live in a censored country where everything is banned or just very limited. There are many countries whose card aren't able to buy stuff online that's where crypto comes in. There are not many payment gateways available if you are not from eu or usa that's where crypto comes in. People who want to trade but there own country stock market is either bad or straight up manipulation that's where derivatives of usa and eu stock markets in form of crypto comes in. Anyone who wants to keep his or her money in dollars instead of there own countries weak currency that's where crypto comes in. All this is allowed without asking for a visa or passport or anything with no restriction or racism based on color or country that is what crypto solves.

You need to clearly verify how you can be sure you’ll receive what you need before giving money to someone else.

Always cross check the wallet address before sending
Like how can I understand that smth is wrong with it, we can only check the amount of money right?

So private wallet more safe?
Does buying or trading make a difference?

Yeah there are so many scams in Crypto exchanges, What i suggest try to exchange on Binance P2P there rates are little high but its more safer then another.

Well your friend probably gave the access of his wallet to a third party and scammer and the scammer emptied your friend's wallet. It is important to get educated first before dealing with any investment, especially in crypto.
