The shift from likes and followers to Views as the primary metric is finally hitting home for most botters and agency owners. If your engagement looks great but your reach is flatlining, you're playing an old game.

Instagram is prioritizing initial retention over everything else. If a user scrolls past your first 2 seconds, the algorithm kills the distribution, regardless of how many "power likes" you throw at it.

The takeaway: Focus on the hook-to-view ratio.
  • If you’re running mother-child setups, ensure the content on slave accounts is actually watchable, not just repurposed junk.
  • Quality of the first 3 seconds is now more valuable than the quantity of accounts in your farm.

Those types of likes can flag your account if adding more than 1000+ per time. That being said, you can still add likes; however just be cautious on how many you add at once. In terms it ranking the post higher, you might have to check that yourself.

No new info here it's been like this for ages

That's absolutely correct. Views are driven by the ability to hold viewers in the first few seconds, not by artificial engagement if engaging content doesn't make users stop scrolling, the algorithm will immediately cut off reach. Fewer accounts with engaging, unique content will outperform any large farm that distributes recycled content.

Exactly reach is earned in the first seconds now. If the opening doesn’t stop the scroll, no amount of engagement will save distribution, so watchability beats scale every time.

100% agree. Views are just a lagging indicator of retention now. If the first 2 to 3 seconds don’t stop the scroll, nothing else matters, likes and follows won’t save it. We’re seeing the same with farms, repurposed filler on slave accounts dies instantly, while fewer accounts with strong hooks outperform bigger setups. Hook to view ratio > everything right now.
