I’ve been running a few YouTube ads lately and noticed the results can be very different depending on the audience and format. I’m just curious about other people’s experiences with YouTube Ads how you feel about using them, whether they’ve been effective for you, and what your overall opinion is. Just sharing thoughts and wanting to hear from others.

Sometimes YouTube Ads feel great, but other times they waste money fast, so it really depends on the audience you choose.

YouTube Ads can work well, but performance really depends on targeting, creative, and placement. Some niches do great with in-stream, others with discovery. I’d say they’re effective when you test multiple audiences and creatives, but results vary a lot from campaign to campaign. Interested to hear what formats others are seeing success with.

True, YouTube ads can be hit or miss. I’ve seen great results sometimes, and other times the budget goes fast. For me it mostly depends on the targeting and how well the ad matches the audience.

I’ve had a similar experience — YouTube Ads can be super hit-or-miss, and a lot of it comes down to targeting and the format you choose.

In my case, the campaigns that performed best were the ones with really dialed-in audiences. Broad targeting usually burned through the budget fast without much to show for it, but when I narrowed things down (interests + keywords + custom segments), the cost per view and conversions got way more reasonable.

Format matters a ton too. Skippable in-streams gave me the most reach, but the engagement wasn’t always great. Shorts placements have been surprisingly strong lately, though, especially for quick hooks. Discovery ads were the slowest but brought the most intentional viewers.

Overall, I’d say YouTube Ads can be effective, but they definitely take more testing and tweaking than most people expect. Once you find the right combo, though, the consistency is pretty solid.

Curious to see what others here are seeing too.

YouTube advertising is suitable for promoting your product and company image to users. It's an effective way for users to remember your products and services. However, if you use YouTube ads to seek conversion rates from orders, it might be challenging.

Youtube ads can work well if you target the right audience format, but results vary a lot testing is key.

Sometimes impressions matter more than clicks, so understanding what you actually want is key.

YouTube Ads can work really well, but they’re very context-dependent. I’ve seen the best results using them mainly for warm traffic (people who already know you), testing hooks with skippable in-stream ads, and keeping the message short and clear. Overall, they’re powerful if your audience and offer are already dialed in, but they’re usually too expensive to use just to figure things out from zero.

YouTube ads work well when the targeting and hook are tight; skippable formats with a clear first-second message usually give the most consistent results.

What type of product are you promoting ? I feel that youtube ads are more suitable to establish a brand.

YouTube ads still work well but performance really comes down to strong targeting and testing different creative formats

I never ran youtube ads for my products but I can imagine that it takes lot of budget even to analyze the returns.

I'll tell you, even if the ad is successful, it just became more expensive. The results that were a year ago are now twice as expensive, with the same indicators.

I have been running ads for the couple of weeks and the results are really inconsistent. Glad you asked this because I thought maybe I was doing something wrong.

great for scaling, not great for “testing blindly.” It's a platform that rewards strong data and clear messaging.

I spent the last year digging into these and ended up finding some success. You can play with targeting all you want but people are so used to seeing ads and skipping through them that you really need to focus on strong creative to even have a shot at converting viewers.

Most reliable way to make better creative is to look outside of your product/service niche and see what other brands that are crushing are doing. Just because their product is different doesn't mean you cant extract their concepts and apply them to your product/service.

Find 15-30 angles that you can curate to your offering and try each one. If you can try multiple ways of framing each of those offerings... you're golden.

But please don't delude yourself into thinking you've tried every angle without looking at what similar companies or companies in other industries are doing in their ads, because thats what literally everyone struggling to scale on YouTube does

Also I should note that every major decision Google has made wrt direct response youtube ads in the last 6 months or so looks like its designed to take targeting control away from us. We're predicting that their goal is to keep pushing all their AI into the system so that any company can just sign up, post creatives, and they'll handle all the targeting. Ex: expansion & optimized targeting, seed lists and lookalikes, the removal of AND audiences, and so much more.

I say this not to "scare" anyone but to emphasize the importance of the creative over everything else.
