How important is post quantity for Youtube Shorts?

More specifically I mean: do I need to post often for my shorts to become viral?

I'm curious about this because: I seem to get significantly more views if I post them in quick succession. If I wait too long and only post one video, then it barely gets any views. And almost all views seem to stop after 48 hours.

If so: How many videos (per day) did you guys have to post to have videos go viral?

You should not have long gaps between posting. But I doubt posting daily will make videos viral is quality is not good.

Recommended daily, and quality videos, not rubbish recycled videos.

Every two days is ok when starting
But the quality of the post is the main thing

I want to know this too. Someone please tell me as well.

shorts helps the algorithm test your content faster, batching posts often increases initial distribution

What you’re seeing with views slowing or stopping after 48 hours is normal for Shorts, especially on newer channels.

Shorts are pushed in waves. The system gives your video a small test run. If retention, rewatches and engagement are strong, it gets another push. If not, distribution slows fast. That’s why a lot of Shorts feel like they die after one or two days.

On small channels that window is even shorter because you don’t have much history or trust built yet. The system tests you, reads the signals, and moves on.

Posting a bunch of Shorts close together can feel like it helps, but most of the time you’re just buying more lottery tickets. One of them might hit better timing or audience matching. Frequency itself doesn’t make anything viral.

One thing to be careful with, especially early on, is uploading too many Shorts in a short time. When a channel suddenly pushes a large volume every day, it can start looking automated or mass-produced. That’s not great.

Why this matters: automated or low-effort networks tend to flood the system with recycled content, spam, or AI loops. The platform tries to protect user experience, so channels that look like they’re mass uploading can get weaker distribution, slower testing, or stricter quality filtering. You usually won’t get a penalty message, you’ll just feel the reach quietly shrink.

Does that mean you can’t post often? No. It just means don’t go crazy with 10–20 Shorts a day on a fresh channel. That’s a fast way to look like a bot farm instead of a creator.

What actually moves the needle:
Strong first second. If people don’t stop scrolling immediately, the Short is done.
High retention and rewatches. Loops matter more than likes.
Clear niche consistency. The system needs to understand who your viewer is.
Clean visuals and simple ideas. Confusion kills distribution.

As for volume, there’s no magic number. For beginners, 1–3 good Shorts per day is plenty. Learn what hooks work before scaling.

Also, not every Short is dead forever after 48 hours. Sometimes they get picked up again later once the system finds a better audience match. It’s rarer on new channels, but it happens.

Treat Shorts early on as testing and signal building, not as a spam game. The algorithm rewards behavior, not hustle.

From what I see, posting often can help get noticed, but one good Short can still do well even if you post less.

quantity matters more for shorts because the system tests content in bursts, and frequent uploads increase your chances of hitting an active test window

Posting in bursts feels better because Shorts are tested at channel level too - active channel gets more test slots in the feed. That doesnt mean spam uploads, more like 1 to 3/day max, spaced a few hours, consistent week to week.

48h cutoff is normal - if retention + rewatches dont hit threshold it wont get second wave, no amount of waiting fixes that. Treat each Short like a probe - more probes helps discovery, but one clean hitter beats 10 mid clips every time.

What kind of content do you publish? That also depends a lot, because if it's not something very relevant or that people are interested in, you won't be able to grow much.

However, posting frequently results in fewer views on the videos.

yeah but still the chances of 1 going viral greatly increases. kinda like throwing hundreds of balls at a hoop hoping one would land in, instead of just trying hard to focus on one, only to fail and just get hundred views

Posting lot of videos will not make the video go viral. You have to focus on quality of the video.

Posting lot of videos is not going to make any difference. You have to make sure that the videos are appealing.

Consistency helps, but each Short stands on its own—focus on retention, not volume.

Yes, just post in a steady rate, but maintain the good quality of your content.

Posting often definitely helps because it gives the algorithm more chances to test your content, quick succession can boost initial momentum but quality and retention matter more than volume, most creators see views slow after 24–48 hours, there’s no fixed number but many people see results with 1–3 quality shorts per day rather than spamming.
