With the growing volume of repeated and trend-based content across social platforms, originality appears to be gaining more importance. I’m interested in hearing how others here view the role of original content versus adapting existing trends.

Original content builds long-term trust and authority, while trends help with short-term reach, but real growth comes from adding a unique voice to any trend you use.

Agreed, with so much recycled trend content out there, original material is becoming a bigger differentiator. Trends can help with quick visibility, but unique ideas usually build stronger engagement and audience loyalty. Most people seem to mix both, but originality is what tends to stand out long-term.

Whether it is written content or video content or any other content. At the moment algorithms are designed to favour content which appears to solve problems. So, it is no longer just about entertainment or information.
Nowadays, as we already know, algorithms are designed to interpret user intent. Ofcourse we all do consume entertainment related content sometimes, but most of the time, the typical user intent is searching for a solution to something.
So, creating solution-driven content is always the best strategy.

Original matters but not in the artsy sense people think - its about original angles + data, not reinventing the wheel. I still jack trends but inject something proprietary like scraped insights, before/after numbers, workflow screenshots, real experiments. Algo can smell templated remix content now, especially at scale - unique signals come from behavior after the click, watch time, saves, rewatches. If your content doesnt change user behavior its dead no matter how original it looks.
