How to hide files on my site

Hey guys I got a newb question. Im using cpanel how can I keep people from going to my main domain and being able to see all my files. I dont want them to see them unless they know the location. Thanks.

Any help is greatly appriciated.

Use ftp friend... download Filezilla free ftp software and login,now make a new directory and upload files

be carefully with the robot.txt ... you can enter this file in your browsers url and then see all the places the SE is not supposed to go to. If you add your hidden locations in there then people just figured them out right away.

upload an .htaccess file in the folder you don't want to have indexes enabled on with the content below:

Options -Indexes

that will only stop search engines from indexing the directory. He's talking about the default action of browseable directories when there's not an index.html/php file.
