I'll open this journey to keep myself accountable and committed to the cause.

The past year has shown that nothing in life is certain, and you can lose everything in the blink of an eye. Took a couple of losses that were hard to recover from, but these losses were necessary for me to finally move forward with something I've always wanted to do but never had the guts to pull the trigger.

Trading is one of the hardest things one can master; most traders fail (for a good reason, of course). I'll try to be the rare exception.

I do not expect any near-term success; I am aware of the risks it carries and the fact that it takes years to understand the market and everything that comes with it.

Right now, I plan to focus on crypto and index futures as I plan to incorporate Order Flow with my trading setup, so I am a little bit limited to certain instruments, as order flow can't be used with everything.

This will be a 3-4 year process. I will do the first year and then reassess my progress.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tools I'll be using:

  • Tradingview premium (usually +$500 a year, but a Black Friday deal got me this for +$200 something)
  • FTMO + $10K account (I don't believe in trading demo, these prop firm accounts are cheap enough for me to use for now)
  • Bookmap subscription (Have not paid or used yet, but it is an important Order Flow tool for the future)
  • Sierra Charts (A highly advanced and complex tool that one needs to master if they really want to get proficient with Order Flow - This will be added later, should be an upgrade from Bookmap)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The current plan - At least 4-5 hours daily:

  • Daily charting - Mastering TA
  • Monitor price action
  • Watching related videos/tutorials
  • Reading books
  • I follow some industry professionals on Twitter, so I try to learn from them as much as possible

Meaning I'll either go all-in with this or not go at all, since this industry has a 95% failure rate, you have to do the work others aren't willing to do. Easy to say, but let's see what the future holds, it's a plan at least.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My current stack (I have a couple of more books, and I will be adding some later; one of the hardest things is to weed out all the snake oil in this industry):

All the past trading journeys have died here, maybe with 1 exception, so I will try to update as often as possible, but likely not more than once or twice per month, as I don't think there can be any meaningful progress any sooner, and I'd rather not bother you with all the small details and bumps I have to go through.

And that's about it for now.

Cheers!

Sounds like you’ve been planning this for a while : )
Yes, I could say that.

I forgot to add that one of the many POSITIVE aspects of running such a journey openly is the security, as prop firms often deny payouts for ridiculous reasons. However, they are afraid of a social backlash, so if you run a trading-related Twitter account or a forum thread transparently, your chances of getting paid out raise significantly.

BHW indexes everything in a second, so it is in their best interest not to rip me off with money :)

This is pretty smart... but it still comes down to you doing the proper research to really understand it

It shows even more how prepared you are for this journey : D

Your 3-4 year plan with no quick win dreams is wise thinking, though most fail fast by chasing riches. I would say learn from courses like axia and skip twitter X hype

Awesome plan, man. Wishing the best for you, good luck with it!

I had a friend that tried something with props but he didn't had luck with it, but I am sure you know what you're doing!

PS Love the stack, solid books!

This is incredibly incredible.

You know I've wanted to do this since a decade now.

I understand a lot of things about a lot of things when it comes to trading, but nothing as disciplined or intense as what you've set out to do.

I don't think I'll even be able to do it with everything I got going right now.

I'll try to be the rare exception

I hope you're an outlier bro. You're an incredibly smart man and I wish you immense success in this.

I appreciate it, but let's refrain from advertising all sorts of courses in this thread. I am usually quick to report them as soon as I see trading shills are trying to take over.

For those who are interested, that Axia course can be found online for free too, so no reason to pay for it.

The failure is huge indeed in this industry.

Thanks!

Thank you for the kind words.

It is either now or never. There is nobody else to blame for the failures, so trading is kinda like a mirror. You need to be ready to meet yourself.

I will do it, and of course, I will keep you all updated!

Cheers!

Good luck for your journey and seems like a solid plan., BTW, welcome to the world of traders ;)

Slow progress, don't have much to update really.

I've rolled in with a course from Trader XO, which I got for almost free since I had to have some history under a certain exchange.

Still not near anywhere I wanted to be, and with that note, I will soon be pushing a bit more than I have thus far.

Progress is progress, even when it feels slow. Everyone grinding in trading goes through these phases where it feels like you're not moving fast enough.

The fact you're investing in education and staying consistent puts you ahead of most people who quit when it gets tough. The compounding knowledge and experience will click eventually.

Since it is the last day of the month, I finally decided to make an update on this.

I was bad, but now I am a little bit less bad (progressively better lol)

Still making some rookie mistakes, cutting winners short and letting losers run (as you can see June 15th was a $2200 loss due to moving stop losses around).

This could have been a +$3,000 month, but now it's only $835 due to the horrible hit I took that day, which only happened because I broke my rules. But nobody has ever gotten poorer for taking profits, so I am happy with that $800 too:

I am still sitting on a negative balance of $2,760 on my $100K FTMO swing account.

On a positive note, I think I have reached the point of no return; it is a matter of fixing some mistakes and ironing out my strategy, and I will make this work one way or the other.

I've been procrastinating too, life has a weird way of coming in between, so I haven't had the time to commit as much as I would have liked, but I will sort things out, I always somehow do.

Cheers.

Good progress, congratulations. On a same boat and blown couple of accounts due to overtrade. Now progressing slowly on 100k account challenge.

I hope you'll make it. With Trump in the office, it is way harder than it should be. 38 peace agreements, per his own words, I get wicked out in both ways.

Hi INCC, I'm not sure if can do this with FTMO, but on Tradeify (with Tradovate account) you can set a max loss per day and it will block your account for the rest of the day automatically. This has helped me tremendously. That way you can avoid those -$2200 days. You can set limits for profit too.

I think we can do this with FTMO too... I've been avoiding looking into this because it's a psychological issue and a rookie mistake that I want to iron out on my own. I'll give it another thought; a max daily loss of $500 would be nice to set.
