6 months ago, to index any link there were certain social bookmarking websites. If u will do the backlinking on those bookmarking website u use to get 80% indexing rate. Now days I don't know. May be the same method working with different bookmarking or classified websites

Niche doesn't matter much - indexing depends more on crawl signals than competition. Either on your own profile page or your own subreddit it doesn't seem to matter much.

If your pdf still isn't indexed after 3 days and you've linked from it using Reddit then it's Google simply choosing not to index it.
