Reverse Black Hatting

I have heard that you can wipe your competitor off of Yahoo.com by reporting them for copyright infringement...have not tried that myself though.
I would say just work on your own rankings, as that will make you the most money. If you get rid of your competitor there will always be more just around the corner.

Stick to raising your own sites ranking, Cause if you screw up in devalueing your competitor's site, it will just create more work for you.

Thats not black-hat seo. What you are talking about is illegal, first of all. Second of all, whats the point? You screw them, someone else will come along and screw you back and the whole time neither one of you are making any money. There is plenty to go around, You are better off putting your efforts into beating your competition at his own game rather than wasting your time playing that low-ball shit..

If say.. I was second and I put some hidden links on a page to whoever was number one and google penalised them for it... is there something that actually makes that illegal?

I can imagine it could well be considered immoral, but a lot of people consider black hat ceo the same.

I think it would probably be easier to get someone eliminated than to get from the 2 spot to the 1 spot.

As for having something to gain from it, if that got you the number 1 spot, gain!

I was not suggesting it would be a good idea either way, but, maybe, if enough people kept getting falsely black listed, maybe they would have to ease up and make gaming them easier.

That's nice except...

It would be in no way fraudulent or copyrighted. You could use completely original material to accomplish this. Nice try. Next.

Karma has left many strewn on the side of the road weeping and wallowing......and it doesn't care if you believe in it or not.

I suspect that ranking your own site is easier than reverse seo. Although the whole report for copyright does sound interesting.

Congratulations for bumping a 7 year old thread. You may shoot yourself now.
