Tube automator and TOR setup

Hi i have installed tube automator and find proxies to slow so have decided to give tor a shot.

I have installed TOR and as per the tube automator guide set my proxy to 127.0.0.1:8118 (even though in tor settings/advanced it says the control port is 127.0.0.1:9051 ? should i set it to that)

Everything seems to be working, but if i check my IP in firefox via whatsmyip.org it still shows my usual ip?

So how do i know its actually randomly assigning IP's, also does the ip change each time it fetches a new captcha?

Tor’s 9051 is the control port, not the proxy port. Traffic is routed through 9050 (SOCKS) or 8118 (Privoxy HTTP) depending on setup. If Firefox isn’t explicitly configured to use the Tor proxy, it will still show your real IP. Checking IP in a normal browser doesn’t confirm what your tool is using.

Also, Tor doesn’t guarantee a new IP for every action or captcha, IPs usually rotate per circuit or after a set time, not on every request. For automation, Tor is often slow and inconsistent compared to proper proxies.
