Need advice on what to do with my skills.

I’ve been writing online for a few years (on Medium, LinkedIn also had a blog website for a year), but I only seem to get work from people I already know.

Which doesn’t pay well, and is inconsistent.

I know sales and have worked in the Airbnb industry, which is basically getting Airbnb clients for other agencies, building lead lists for them, doing sales, and a bit of a mix of all, and also working as ghostwriter for a busy founder for his LinkedIn as well.

I know all of this seems a lot.

In the meantime I did what I could to find something I can do consistently.

I always come back to writing and that's what I genuinely like to do.

And sales and writing to sell and persuade is something I've done before and would love to master as my main skill and sell it.

But the problem is, in that case i want to do Cold Emailing but i have no idea how i can do cold emails, because that would require me to buy domains, maybe a instantly or smartlead, and i’d also need so many other things that require money, which i don’t have extra to spend.

I’ve done Cold emails before too (for an agency of someone i already knew), i was replaced by someone before the results could start showing, and i was learning enough to know that cold emails is a long term game, not for the short term gains.

i need advice on how i can position myself in the market, and where should i focus on growing.

Well, you already know how to make great write-ups, so you're already half-way there.

The real challenge is to get the subscribers in the first place. Because without a good funnel, you won't have anyone to write to in the first place.

You would need to start by looking at the services which allow you to easily start a mailing list without so many prerequisites, like Beehiiv, Ghost (I think) or Hostinger Reach. So that you can focus on acquiring names and email addresses. I recommend Beehiiv because they have a free tier.

You can purchase a domain for 1 year for just $10.

Basically the only thing you need to focus on once you have the subscribers is your conversion rate. How many people click on links in your emails. That will tell you whether your emails are working or not.

This is one of the many things you can do : Create a blog. If you can write one blog post a day. Start by researching about a micro niche in a niche that you are interested in. You can use semrush keyword magic tool to find keywords that are popular but not competitive. Once you get the list of keywords, craft topics around those niche and post one blog daily. use chatgpt to find out the perfect SEO friendly format of a blog post to rank in that particular keyword. Slowly build yourself as a brand in different writing communities also.

Maybe do some freelance copywriting? There is always a stream of jobs on upwork for copywriters.

Everything needs patience. I have been like that too. But for one year, i did this. Since i am more accustomed to SEO, i did posting + seo side by side (took 2-3 hours of my day). My website is currently getting decent traffic daily (i don't do seo anymore. i only post once a month) . I presented my website as a brand while promoting. Keep your promotions as simple as possible, don't do it aggressively.
