Persistent Reddit Shadowbans on New Accounts Despite Genuine Participation

Hello BHW, I'm facing a recurring issue where my new Reddit accounts get banned from major subreddits almost immediately after I start commenting. I'm not spamming links or promoting brands, just participating in discussions on topics I'm interested in (gaming, relationships, books etc). I've had 8 accounts banned this way and can't get past 200 karma. The mods deny my appeals.

• Could my activity pattern be triggering the spam filters?
• Is using ChatGPT to formulate my comments harming my account's "trust score" by making them seem non-organic?
• What are the critical steps to age an account and build karma naturally without setting off alarms?

Any insight from the community would be appreciated.

They may be connecting your accounts to previously flagged accounts.

A few things come to mind. How many comments are you leaving a day? It's recommended to slowly ramp up, and I wouldn't do any more than 1x for the few days, then work up to 2x etc.

It's also important that you don't just go jumping into comments, but you browse, join communities, upvote etc. Reddit's detection system is quite advanced, I suspect a large part of that is that they know most of their users are lurkers, so a sudden peak in contribution activity raises suspicion.

I will say on average, in my experience, Redditors are much better at recognizing AI responses and generated content than other platforms. Since you're running into so much trouble, I would reply manually for a bit until you figure out what's going on.

And +1 on the previous comment about maybe you're leaving some sort of fingerprint where they're linking your activity together.

For a start stop using chatgpt for that purpose

Stop using ChatGPT for comments—it's a major red flag. Also use warm up the account for 1-2 weeks: just browse, vote, no comments. Then start posting only in small, niche subreddits to build karma slowly.
